Even though The Brave and the Bold is still being made, fans are already enthusiastically supporting one actor to play Batman in James Gunn’s DC Universe. The first chapter of the new DC Universe, “Gods and Monsters,” will finally introduce Batman to Gunn’s superhero world, and audiences have been sharing their picks for who should take on the famous role.
Brandon Sklenar, who’s mentioned he’d love to play Batman in the DC Universe, was asked on the TODAY show about rumors he might be the next actor to take on the role. He admitted it would be a dream come true, sharing that while working in Spain, someone actually called him ‘Batman!’ from the street.
The celebrity shared that it’s amazing and always surprising to see how far these things can reach. They also expressed immense gratitude for the support, saying it would be a dream come true – and incredibly surreal – to make it happen.
DC Studios is still developing the script for The Brave and The Bold movie, focusing on establishing the creative direction for Batman within the new DC Universe. Andy Muschietti is confirmed to direct this film, which is the first installment in the ‘Gods and Monsters’ chapter. In an April 2025 interview with ScreenRant, Ash Crossan spoke with Peter Sklenar about discussions he and James Gunn had regarding the project.
I’d love to play Batman! It’s been a childhood dream, and it’s funny because I’ve never actually said that out loud before. The possibility just came up recently, and I thought, ‘Wow, this could be amazing!’ Hopefully, it’ll become a reality someday.
I’d be thrilled to take on that role. Playing that particular character has always been a dream of mine. If I ever worked on a superhero project, that would be exactly what I’d want to do.

I think people are starting to recognize my work a little bit, which is great. While I don’t expect anything to happen right away, it’s definitely exciting! Both the kid and adult in me think it would be really cool, and I have a lot of ideas about what could happen.
James Gunn recently emphasized that finding the perfect Batman and crafting a strong story are top priorities for DC Studios. However, they won’t begin searching for an actor for The Brave and The Bold until the script is finished.
The DC Universe is planning to introduce Gotham City on screen before Batman himself appears. An R-rated movie about the classic Batman villain, Clayface, is scheduled for release on September 11, 2026.
DC Studios has yet to set a release date for The Brave and the Bold.
