With the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars, another familiar face from the Marvel Cinematic Universe is confirmed to return as Phase 6 nears its conclusion. As the current storyline, The Multiverse Saga, wraps up, we’re finally learning more about the next Avengers movies.
Liam Crowley from ScreenRant recently spoke with Letitia Wright about her new movie, Highway to the Moon, which she also directed. During the interview, Wright was asked about Black Panther 3. Director Ryan Coogler has confirmed he’s starting work on the sequel. Wright responded by saying she doesn’t have any information about it, explaining that she had just finished filming Secret Wars and enjoyed that experience.
She immediately corrected herself, saying, “Doomsday, sorry, I get those two mixed up.” She then explained, “I have to film Secret Wars next. But we’ve already finished the Doomsday project, and it went really well.”
Honestly, working on the film was a blast – I had so much free time and really enjoyed the whole experience, and I can’t wait for everyone to finally see it. As for Black Panther 3, I’m just going to be patient and wait to hear from the director when they’re ready to talk about it. But the Doomsday shoot was genuinely a lot of fun, a really great time.
Wright discussed how being part of the Avengers now feels different than it did during Phase 3, especially after taking on the role of Black Panther. She described it as both an honor and a way to carry on the legacy of the previous films and her brother, T’Challa. She’s excited for audiences to see how her character, Shuri, develops in future movies.
When asked about experiencing a particularly memorable moment while filming Avengers: Doomsday, Wright simply said she couldn’t comment. She was also questioned about the future of her character, Shuri, after the upcoming Multiverse Saga, and whether the role would be safe given rumors that T’Challa might be recast. She declined to answer that question as well.
I’m a big fan of storytelling, and I especially love how the Marvel universe is always surprising us with new directions. I’m really excited to see where things go with this franchise – I truly love it! You’ll just have to go to the movies to find out what happens, Liam.
Production for Avengers: Secret Wars is scheduled to start in the summer of 2026, and Anthony and Joe Russo will be directing. Actress Wright is among the first few cast members officially confirmed to appear in the movie, which is part of Marvel’s Phase 6 lineup.
We’ll probably learn more about who’s in Avengers: Secret Wars in 2026, as filming gets closer. The movie is scheduled to come out in theaters on December 17, 2027.
