Jason Statham’s Highly-Anticipated Action Sequel To Surprise 2024 Hit Completes Filming

The sequel to Jason Statham’s popular film, Beekeeper, is making good progress and is on track for release in theaters.

Timo Tjahjanto, the director of Beekeeper 2, announced on social media that filming is complete for the sequel to the unexpectedly popular 2024 action movie about a fiercely protective beekeeper.

The director shared, “What an amazing, challenging, and rewarding experience this has been!” He went on to say that he felt incredibly grateful and constantly motivated by the talented and dedicated cast and crew, who are truly the best in the business.

Tjahjanto concluded by saying he’ll miss the experience and is looking forward to working with everyone again soon.

I was really excited to hear about Beekeeper 2, but it’s a bit strange that David Ayer, who directed the first one, wasn’t back. Apparently, he just had too much on his plate. Thankfully, they brought in Timo Tjahjanto, and he’s fantastic! He just finished directing Bob Odenkirk in Nobody 2, which did really well – it made over $41 million after coming out in August. I have high hopes for this sequel!

In an interview with ScreenRant before the release of Nobody 2, director Timo Tjahjanto shared some insights into his plans for the Beekeeper series. He mentioned drawing inspiration from one of his favorite Marvel comic book characters as he takes over the franchise.

The director explained they were attracted to the Beekeeper series because Jason Statham’s performance reminded them of their favorite portrayal of The Punisher from Marvel comics. They felt Statham essentially played a similar character.

New images from Beekeeper 2 suggest Jason Statham will return as Adam Clay, teaming up with Emmy Raver-Lampman’s Verona Parker, who is also reprising her role as an FBI agent. The photos show Statham and Raver-Lampman filming a scene on a street, both holding weapons.

Jeremy Irons and Jemma Redgrave will reprise their roles as Wallace Westwyld and President Danforth, respectively. Joining the cast is Plom Klementieff, known for her work in Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, alongside Adam Copeland and Yara Shahidi.

Released on January 12, 2024, The Beekeeper exceeded expectations at the box office, earning $162 million globally despite a $40 million production budget. Critics also responded positively to the film, giving it a 71% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

I just read a review of The Beekeeper on ScreenRant, and it sounds amazing! They said it’s packed with really well-done action scenes and is just a super fun, adrenaline-pumping movie. Basically, it’s non-stop action from start to finish!

Production on The Beekeeper 2 began on September 26, 2025, at Shepperton Studios in England, following its confirmation in February of the same year. A release date hasn’t been announced yet.
