Percy Jackson Season 2’s Official Episode Titles Reveal Major Plot Spoilers

Following a similar pattern to its first season, the titles for the eight episodes of Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 were revealed on Monday. Each episode is named after a chapter from Rick Riordan’s second Percy Jackson book, The Sea of Monsters, giving fans a good idea of what key events from the novel will be featured in the show.

The five books in the original Percy Jackson and the Olympians series all have a similar style for their chapter titles: they describe someone doing something unexpected, often something strange or confusing if you don’t know the story. A good example is the first chapter of the first book – and the first episode of the Disney+ show – which is titled “I Accidentally Vaporize My Pre-Algebra Teacher.”

While the book, The Sea of Monsters, has 20 chapters, the second season of the Disney+ series only has eight episodes. This means not every chapter gets its own episode, but the show still incorporates events from all of them. The episode titles highlight the main focus of each installment, and aren’t restricted to just what happens in a single chapter with the same name.

The first two episodes of Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 will be available on December 10th, starring Walker Scobell, Aryan Simhadri, Leah Sava Jeffries, and featuring Daniel Diemer, Dior Goodjohn, and Charlie Bushnell. New episodes will then be released every week on Disney+.

Percy Jackson Season 2 Episode Titles Reveal When To Expect Big Moments

Episode 1: I Play Dodgeball with Cannibals (Chapter 2)

Percy and Tyson were having a typical last day of school when a game of dodgeball took a dangerous turn. It turned out some of their classmates were actually Laistrygonians, revealing their true, hostile nature.

Annabeth explains she’d been secretly following Percy all day, using a special Yankees cap that makes people invisible. Together, Annabeth, Percy, and Tyson fight off the giants, and then they escape in a taxi headed for Camp Half-Blood.

The Gray Sisters drive the taxi and mysteriously allude to events in Percy’s future. They arrive at Camp just in time to help defend against an attack, discovering that Thalia’s Tree has been poisoned. Unlike the book, the Season 2 trailer of Percy Jackson shows Percy witnessing his old friend Luke actually poison the tree.

Episode 2: Demon Pigeons Attack (Chapter 6)

Percy and Annabeth discover that Chiron has been removed from his position at camp. While the book claims he was blamed for poisoning Thalia’s tree, the show suggests Luke was actually responsible. Tantalus takes over as activities director and immediately announces plans to revive a risky, camp-wide chariot race.

The heroes find out Tyson is Percy’s half-brother, as he’s also a son of Poseidon. They also learn, with help from Grover, that to protect Camp Half-Blood from increasing monster attacks – caused by its failing magical borders – they need to locate Grover and find the Golden Fleece, a powerful artifact that can heal anything.

While a chariot race was underway, the camp came under attack by a flock of Stymphalian birds. Percy managed to drive them away using a boombox and a Dean Martin greatest hits album. Taking advantage of the chaos, Clarisse won the race, which pleased Tantalus. Because of her victory, when Percy and Annabeth persuaded Tantalus that a quest for the Golden Fleece was necessary, he chose Clarisse to lead it.

Driven by her pride and a need to prove her abilities, Clarisse refuses Percy’s assistance, even though he has essential resources for the mission. However, Percy isn’t willing to stand by and watch her struggle, so he secretly leaves Camp to join the quest himself. Hermes supports this unofficial journey, sending Percy, Tyson, and Annabeth on their way with helpful gifts and a clue about where to find Luke’s ship.

Episode 3: We Board the Princess Andromeda (Chapter 8)

With the aid of hippocampi, Percy, Annabeth, and Tyson reach Luke’s ship, the Princess Andromeda. There, they find Luke, who attempts to persuade them to side with him and help Kronos overthrow the Olympian gods.

So, it turns out the ship is absolutely crawling with monsters, and it’s not just them – there are other people hunting Luke and Kronos too! I was watching the trailers, and it got me thinking – this is probably where we’ll meet Alison Simms. She’s a new character created just for the series, and from what I gather, she’s one of the demigods who ends up fighting with Luke during the war. I’m really curious to see how they bring her into the story!

Thanks to a gift from Hermes, the group travels to a secret hideout Annabeth used to share with Luke and Thalia when they were on the run. There, they battle and defeat a Hydra. Interestingly, this monster wasn’t featured in any promotional material for the new season, and its appearance hasn’t been officially confirmed – though it’s possible the showrunners are keeping it as a surprise.

(Side note: Rick Riordan teased that this episode is one fans should be especially excited for!)

Episode 4: Clarisse Blows Up Everything (Chapter 11)

Clarisse arrives just when Percy, Annabeth, and Tyson need help with the Hydra. She meets them on her ship, the CSS Birmingham, and they agree to work together. Percy accidentally listens to a conversation between Clarisse and her father, Ares, and realizes Ares is putting a lot of pressure on her, with serious consequences if she fails her mission.

Feeling the weight of responsibility, Clarisse devises a plan to get past their next challenge: the monsters Scylla and Charybdis. To enter the Sea of Monsters, they needed to choose which monster to risk facing. Unfortunately, they didn’t decide in time and ended up battling both, leaving them unprepared for either one.

A section of the ship is damaged, and Tyson tries to repair it. However, as the attack worsens, Percy misjudges while steering the boat to safety. This causes a powerful explosion that throws Percy and Annabeth overboard, and starts a large fire. Percy fears Tyson didn’t survive.

Episode 5: We Check In to C.C.’s Spa & Resort (Chapter 12)

Percy and Annabeth unexpectedly end up at C.C.’s Spa & Resort, where they receive luxurious treatment. However, they quickly realize the owner, C.C., is actually Circe – the legendary sorceress from Greek mythology known for transforming people into pigs.

While Annabeth receives a makeover and is drawn in by the allure of magic and learning, Percy is stuck with Circe, who transforms him into a guinea pig – she explains she preferred guinea pigs because regular pigs were too smelly and hard to manage. Luckily, Percy finds one of Hermes’ gifts, which reverses the spell, turning him and the other guinea pig-turned-men back into humans, including several pirates like Blackbeard.

Percy and Annabeth set sail on a pirate ship. They soon ran into sirens, creatures famous for luring sailors to their doom with an irresistible song. Knowing the danger, Percy started preparing to block out the sound with wax. However, Annabeth, driven by her curiosity, asked Percy to tie her securely to the mast, promising he wouldn’t untie her, so she could hear the sirens’ song for herself. Percy, hesitant but ultimately agreeing, complied with her request.

When Annabeth heard the sirens, she desperately tried to free herself and swim towards them, finally succeeding. She jumped into the water, heading straight for danger. Seeing this, Percy dove in after her, and discovered his water powers were stronger than he knew. He created a water bubble around them both, successfully bringing Annabeth and himself back to safety.

Episode 6: Nobody Gets the Fleece (Chapter 15)

Percy and Annabeth arrive at the island of the Cyclops, hoping to find Grover and the Golden Fleece. They’re relieved to find Clarisse and Grover there, and learn Grover has been cleverly delaying Polyphemus, the giant Cyclops guarding the Fleece, for as long as he could.

The group kept trying to distract the monster while Annabeth cleverly used a trick from the story of Odysseus. She used an invisibility cap to convince Polyphemus that she was his old enemy, “Nobody” – actually Odysseus in disguise. The Cyclops, with his poor eyesight, fell for the ruse, and the fight for the Golden Fleece began.

Things take a turn for the worse when Polyphemus manages to injure Annabeth severely, knocking her unconscious. Percy steps in to continue the fight, but just when it looks hopeless, Tyson arrives to help his brother.

Episode 7: I Go Down with the Ship (Chapter 16)

Percy and Tyson team up to defeat Polyphemus and escape his island with Annabeth, Grover, and Clarisse, successfully retrieving the Golden Fleece. During their return journey, they encounter Luke again in Miami Beach.

Knowing they were running out of time and could only afford one plane ticket, the group sent Clarisse back to camp with the Golden Fleece, hoping to save Thalia’s Tree before it was too late. Afterwards, Percy, Tyson, Annabeth, and Grover confronted Luke.

It’s now obvious Luke is after the Golden Fleece to revive Kronos. While the rest of the camp doesn’t know Luke poisoned the tree, in the book, Percy cleverly uses an Iris Message to get Luke to admit his actions publicly. However, the movie trailer shows Percy witnessing Luke poison the tree firsthand, so it’s uncertain how their final showdown will play out.

Episode 8: The Fleece Works Its Magic Too Well (Chapter 20)

Luke and Percy start fighting with swords, and Luke manages to wound Percy’s thigh. With no escape and a dangerous enemy ready to attack, things look hopeless—until Chiron and a group of centaurs, known as the “Party Ponies,” arrive to help.

Percy, Tyson, Grover, and Annabeth are transported back to camp by magical ponies. There, Percy learns more about a major prophecy that’s been foreshadowed throughout their adventures. He understands that, unless another powerful demigod is born, he’ll face a crucial decision on his sixteenth birthday – a choice that could either doom or save the home of the gods, Olympus.

The ponies led everyone back to camp, where preparations were underway for another chariot race—this time, without the danger of those giant birds. With Tyson assisting them, Percy and Annabeth finally won, and the entire camp erupted in celebration.

Just when things appeared to be settling down, Percy received another shock: placing the Golden Fleece on the tree didn’t just heal it from the poison, it also restored Thalia, Zeus’s daughter, to her human body.
