Despite the disappointing reviews and box office performance of the recent live-action Snow White, Gal Gadot is hoping to reprise her role as the Evil Queen if a sequel is made, potentially in 2025. Disney reimagined its 1937 animated classic, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, with Rachel Zegler starring as Snow White. Zegler had previously gained recognition in West Side Story and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, while Gadot, known for her role as Wonder Woman, played the villain. The film faced early criticism for its creative choices and was further complicated by political discussions involving both Zegler and Gadot during promotion.
Even though the recent Snow White film faced criticism, and many people didn’t like Gal Gadot’s performance, she’s still interested in playing the Evil Queen again. When US Weekly asked her about returning to the role, she said:
“I would love to do that. Yes. Tell [Disney CEO] Bob [Iger]. Bob, I’ll do that.”
Released in March 2025, the film Snow White received generally negative reviews. Critics at Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 39% rating, while audiences were slightly more positive with a score of 69%. However, the film was widely disliked, as evidenced by its very low 2.2/10 score on IMDB. This negative reception translated to disappointing ticket sales. With a production budget of $270 million and significant marketing expenses, the film only earned $205 million worldwide, falling short of expectations.
What’s next for Gal Gadot and Disney’s live-action remakes?

Walt Disney Studios
Even though the recent Snow White remake wasn’t a success, Disney will probably keep making live-action versions of its classic animated films. Lilo & Stitch earned over $1 billion globally earlier this year, proving that the criticism surrounding Snow White hasn’t changed Disney’s plans. A live-action Moana is scheduled for 2026, and the studio is also working on a Hercules remake. Interestingly, Snow White is gaining viewers on streaming, suggesting the film may have been unfairly criticized and is finding an audience online.
Gal Gadot has discussed why the recent Snow White film didn’t succeed, touching on the controversy surrounding its political themes and her relationship with star Rachel Zegler. She believes misinterpretations played a key role in its failure. Currently, Gadot is working on several projects, including a film called The Runner directed by the filmmaker behind The Last King of Scotland. She’s also still developing a Cleopatra movie, which was first announced in 2020, though it has faced criticism regarding her casting. Considering Snow White‘s poor reception, it’s unlikely audiences are eager to see her reprise a villainous role anytime soon, and Disney will probably want to avoid similar issues with future projects.
