Okay, so Liam Neeson had a pretty wild year! There was all this buzz that Pamela Anderson, who he worked with on the new Naked Gun movie, had ‘taken’ him – it sounded crazy! But it turned out it was all a playful PR stunt to get people talking about the film. Honestly, some people wondered if it was a bit much, but I guess with a lot of his recent movies not being huge hits, they were trying anything to get attention. He’s made fourteen films since 2020, and it’s been tough getting those seen!
The recent publicity efforts didn’t seem to boost ticket sales, as the film only earned $102 million – a disappointing number for a big-budget movie. It raises the question of whether audiences are losing interest in Liam Neeson. His upcoming projects should provide some clarity. He currently has four films in the works: two scheduled for release in 2026, and two more likely to come out in 2027 or 2028. However, considering he typically appears in about three movies each year – and even starred in nine in 2014 – it’s possible they could all be released in the same year.
Here are 4 upcoming Liam Neeson movies to watch out for.

‘Cold Storage’
February 13, 2026

Samuel Goldwyn Films
Directed by Jonny Campbell and written by David Koepp, based on his own 2019 novel, Cold Storage follows two workers at a storage facility built on top of an old military base. During a night shift, a dangerous, government-contained fungus breaks loose and begins to control people’s minds. The two employees must then join forces with a hardened bioterrorism expert (Liam Neeson) to stop the spread and save humanity.
Cold Storage blends horror and comedy, imagining a humorous take on the classic sci-fi thriller, The Thing. While Liam Neeson may have faced a learning curve during filming, Joe Keery, best known for his role as Steve Harrington in Stranger Things, felt right at home. Executive producer Gavin Polone (Zombieland) is confident audiences will love the film, describing it as scary, funny, exciting, surprising, and thoroughly enjoyable.
The new trailer suggests February will bring a thrilling movie! It has all the classic elements of the genre – mutations, soldiers, and quarantine zones – plus a mysterious deer. But the real reason to be excited is David Koepp, a hugely successful screenwriter responsible for blockbusters like Jurassic Park, the 1996 Mission Impossible, and Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man. With over $2.6 billion in American box office earnings to his name, the story is likely to be fantastic, assuming he’s on top of his game.

‘4 Kids Walk Into a Bank’
April 17, 2026

Miramax
The movie 4 Kids Walk Into a Bank is based on a graphic novel and tells the story of Paige, a young woman who only has her grandfather, Danny (played by Liam Neeson), after her mother passes away. Danny used to be a bank robber, and his old friends are trying to convince him to do one more heist. Paige, worried he’ll get caught, decides to stop them. She gathers four friends and they plan to rob the bank themselves, just before Danny and his crew can.
The movie was first revealed at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival. Filming started in December 2024 in Limerick, Ireland, with sets created to look like the United States in the 1990s. Based on the plot, 4 Kids Walk Into a Bank seems like a kid-friendly version of Ocean’s Eleven. It sounds like it will be an enjoyable film, and with younger characters, we can expect more comedy than action – which is great, as it will give us a chance to see Liam Neeson show off his comedic skills again, much like he did in The Naked Gun. Let’s just hope they don’t ask him to recreate that difficult split for the promotional posters!
Frankie Shaw makes her debut as a feature film director on this project. She previously worked alongside Liam Neeson in the 2024 action thriller, Absolution, and that existing rapport clearly benefits this film. Shaw’s only prior directing experience was with the short film SMILF, which earned her a U.S. Fiction award at Sundance. Also starring is Talia Ryder, an actress to watch who received nominations for her impressive debut performance in the 2020 film Never Rarely Sometimes Always, and has continued to shine in her roles since then.

‘Hotel Tehran’
Release Date TBD

Universal Pictures
While specific plot details for Hotel Tehran are still under wraps, the basic story is known. The film, directed by Guy Moshe and starring Liam Neeson and Zachary Levi, follows a group of former CIA agents who are struggling after the war in Afghanistan. They travel to Tehran to undertake a dangerous and potentially rewarding mission that could dramatically change their lives.
Get ready for what might be one of the most believable spy movies ever made. Hotel Tehran is based on an idea from Bazzel Baz, a former CIA operative with experience in intelligence and special operations. Having someone with firsthand knowledge usually leads to a better story – look at The Americans, created by ex-CIA officer Joe Weisberg, which became a huge critical success. Plus, reports say the film’s production team includes former special forces personnel who are helping write and choreograph the action scenes.
This new movie immediately reminded me of Three Kings – you know, the one with the marines who try to steal gold after the Gulf War? I really hope it lives up to that film’s standard. It also has a bit of a The A-Team vibe, which is cool. What I’m really excited about is that Liam Neeson won’t be playing the lone wolf this time. He’s done so many *Takenstyle movies, it’ll be good to see him in an ensemble piece.

‘The Mangoose’
Release Date TBD

Universal Pictures
In the action thriller The Mongoose, Liam Neeson plays Ryan “Fang” Flanagan, a war hero who insists he’s innocent of a crime. Desperate, he leads police on a high-speed chase across the country, with support from his old Special Forces comrades and a captivated public. The film, directed by stunt veteran Mark Vanselow, also features Ving Rhames, Michael Chiklis, and Academy Award winner Marisa Tomei.
Wow, is that O.J. Simpson back on the screen? Honestly, it feels like ages since we’ve gotten a really good, old-fashioned car chase movie, so The Mongoose has a lot of potential. I think fans of films like Duel and Vanishing Point will absolutely love it. Forget The Long Walk – this feels like the spiritual successor we’ve been waiting for, The Long Chase. And it’s not just thrills, either; I hear it deals with issues affecting veterans, which adds a really interesting layer to the whole thing.
Liam Neeson is working again with Code Entertainment, the company behind his films Ice Road and Ice Road 2: Vengeance, and the project seems to be going well. Vic Screen recently visited the Australian set and confirmed the director is utilizing the vast outback for exciting chase sequences.
