Be warned! This article reveals key plot points from the Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Season 2 episode, “Heartbreak and the Refuge of the Downtrodden.” If you haven’t watched it yet, we recommend doing so with a Paramount+ subscription before continuing to read!
Last week’s episode of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage was tough to watch, especially Connor McCallister’s difficult breakup. This week, the whole family tried to cheer him up, but ultimately he had to heal himself. He found solace and a way forward through his music.
Georgie’s brother-in-law is a little quirky, so no one was surprised when the song he wrote for the family – called “Do the Axolotl” – was really unusual. Because of that, Mandy’s brother sent the song to Dr. Demento, and I’m excited to see if this will lead to a bigger opportunity for them.
Why Dr. Demento Appeared In Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage
Just like a past episode included Jay Leno hosting The Tonight Show, the show Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage brought in radio personality Dr. Demento to subtly remind viewers the series takes place in the 1990s. Although only seen from behind, Dr. Demento (Barry Hansen) was clearly audible and received on-screen credit. It’s likely they used a stand-in or filmed him from the back to make him appear as he did in the ’90s, as he looks different today.
Honestly, I was thrilled to hear Dr. Demento was a fan of Connor’s song! It’s exciting to think this might lead to a spin-off for him, but I’m actually hoping it sets the stage for a really fantastic celebrity appearance down the line. It feels like the perfect opportunity!
Will Dr. Demento Introduce Connor To Weird Al Yankovic?
When I heard the name Dr. Demento, I immediately wondered if that meant Weird Al Yankovic would be on the show Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. For those unfamiliar, Weird Al got his start thanks to The Dr. Demento Show, which inspired him to create and submit his own music.

When Will Georgie And Mandy’s First Marriage Actually Show Them Break Up? The EP Shares Thoughts
I’ve been a fan of Weird Al for ages, and it’s exciting to think about how Dr. Demento being impressed with Connor’s music could bring them together! This week’s episode really got me thinking about what Connor’s future holds – Mandy’s right, he’s a seriously talented musician. I’m picturing him on tour with Weird Al, either as part of the band or maybe even opening for him! That would be amazing.
If it ever happened, I’d love to see Weird Al Yankovic appear on Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. He’s been on TV before, and even though he’s changed over the years, I think they could easily cast him as a guest star and use makeup to make him look younger.
Throughout its twelve seasons, The Big Bang Theory featured many well-known guest stars, and Young Sheldon occasionally had them too. While the prequel series Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, being set in the 1990s, might make it harder to include celebrities, I’d happily accept a bit of creative license if it meant a character could meet a truly legendary comedic songwriter.

You can stream Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage with a Paramount+ subscription. Plans start at $7.99 per month or $59.99 per year. Paramount+ offers both an Essential plan with ads and a Premium, ad-free plan for $12.99 a month. For the best value, consider an annual subscription to save money on your favorite shows and movies.
You can watch Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage on CBS Thursdays at 8 p.m. Eastern. The show won’t finish airing until 2025, so there are plenty of new episodes coming up while many other TV shows are on hiatus.
