Be warned, this contains spoilers for episode 8 of Hazbin Hotel season 2! Vivienne Medrano, the creator of Hazbin Hotel, has shared how the season 2 finale will affect Angel Dust’s storyline in season 3, which will focus heavily on his experiences. It was revealed in season 2 that Vox had been secretly controlling Angel Dust using hypnosis, turning him into a spy within the hotel as far back as season 1. Vox also used this hypnosis to make Angel publicly reject the hotel and support Vox’s plans to rebel against Heaven.
At the conclusion of Hazbin Hotel season 2, Angel decides to leave the hotel, feeling he can’t trust himself after his actions. This follows a dangerous incident where he almost harmed Cherry and Husk while they were trying to save him from the Vees. Despite his friends begging him to return, he goes back to working for Valentino, which sets the stage for what happens next in his story.
In a recent interview with Collider, Vivienne Medrano discussed plans for season 3 of Hazbin Hotel. She revealed the season will heavily feature Angel Dust and explore the aftermath of discovering he was unknowingly used as a spy by Vox. This will include delving into the abuse Angel suffered under Valentino, and introducing Husk as a character who tries to support his friend. Medrano’s full comments are available below.
Season 3 focuses heavily on Angel and the difficult situation he’s in. It also explores Husk’s growing care for Angel, which is complicated by their shared history, as shown in ‘Loser Baby.’ Both characters are trapped, but while Angel’s abuser, Valentino, simply wants to control and harm him, Alastor, who controls Husk, at least has his own goals. Husk assists Alastor with those goals, but Valentino’s abuse is purely about domination. We’ll see Husk begin to understand just how much worse Angel’s predicament is compared to his own.
