New Hunger Games Movie Trailer Releases Very Soon

The trailer for the upcoming Hunger Games movie, Sunrise on the Reaping, is expected to be released soon. The film will explore the 50th Hunger Games—also known as the second Quarter Quell—which happened 24 years before Katniss Everdeen’s story begins. This particular Games was won by Haymitch Abernathy, the character played by Woody Harrelson in the earlier films.

The Hunger Games prequel could get its first trailer soon

Okay, so I just saw from Daniel Richtman over on Patreon that we’re finally getting a first look at ‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’! Apparently, the teaser trailer is dropping this Thursday, November 20th. It’ll be the first official footage from the movie, which is exciting because it’s not due out until November 20, 2026. It’s kind of cool that the teaser is coming out exactly a year before the film hits theaters!

Joseph Zada has joined the cast of the upcoming film, playing a young Haymitch Abernathy. He’ll be acting alongside stars like Whitney Peak, Ralph Fiennes, Mckenna Grace, Elle Fanning, Maya Hawke, Jesse Plemons, and Kieran Culkin. Filming started in Spain earlier this year and is still ongoing.

The first glimpse of Ralph Fiennes as President Snow has been revealed in a promotional banner, though filming is still ongoing and the teaser will only show a small amount of footage. Tom Blyth and the late Donald Sutherland previously played the character in earlier installments.

The new trailer’s release date follows a current trend in the movie industry: sharing previews well in advance of a film’s premiere. Christopher Nolan’s upcoming movie, The Odyssey, is also using this strategy, with the first trailer appearing almost a year before the film is set to come out on July 17, 2026.

Marvel Studios is likely to debut the first trailer for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie alongside the release of Avatar: Fire and Ash in December. Other film studios also seem to be planning to release trailers for their big 2026 movies before the premiere of Avatar 3.
