Everyone is eagerly awaiting the fifth season of Stranger Things, which isn’t expected until 2026. After that, fans will be excited for the return of Wednesday Addams in Season 3. While viewers have their own ideas about what they want to see, Jenna Ortega, who plays Wednesday, has specific ideas for how she’d like the story to continue after the cliffhanger ending of Season 2.
I really enjoy ‘Wednesday’ and Jenna Ortega, but honestly, I’m more excited about the possibility of LEGO sets based on the show than I am for season three.
Netflix’s popular show, Wednesday, has been renewed for a third season, but fans will probably have to wait a long time for it. Since each episode takes a lot of work, this isn’t surprising. The good news is that the show’s creators, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, should have plenty of time to carefully consider ideas, including one recently suggested by Jenna Ortega, which I think is a great idea.
I recently chatted with Tim Burton’s right-hand woman, Jenna Ortega, over at GamesRadar+, and she let me in on what she’s really hoping to achieve with the next season. It’s exciting to hear her vision for what’s to come!
I’d love to see Morticia and Wednesday stop fighting and start working together. We were just discussing the power of women supporting each other, and we see a glimpse of that towards the end of the season. I think we should explore that idea more – it’s really great and feels new to see women portrayed that way.
Great news! Just over a week before her statements were released, Jenna Ortega got together with her Wednesday co-stars Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán at a Netflix event. It was clear how much more enjoyable things are when these three actors are having fun together – a dynamic that wasn’t quite as present on the show itself, where a strained relationship kept their mother-daughter bond from fully developing (or falling apart, for that matter).
As Ortega mentioned, the second half of Season 2 started to bring Morticia and Wednesday closer together, especially after Headmistress Weems returned. (Let’s hope she stays returned this time!) Hopefully, the show can continue to develop their newfound connection instead of creating new conflicts between them.

Jenna Ortega pointed out a key character trait that wasn’t really explored in Season 2, and I believe that hurt the show. Here’s how she explained it:
It would be great to see Wednesday explore her darker impulses, but still maintain her sense of humor. I’d also love to see more playful, even slightly dangerous, interactions between her and Pugsley – maybe more attempts at sibling rivalry that involve trying to off each other! It feels like we haven’t seen enough of that dynamic.
I was hoping to see Pugsley have a larger role in Season 2 of Wednesday, but the way he was portrayed didn’t quite work. He seemed too easily upset and fragile, especially considering he grew up in a dangerous environment with his sister. Previous versions of Pugsley would have handled getting shocked without issue, but this Pugsley needed to be protected. If Wednesday didn’t try hard enough to… well, let’s just say fix that in the future!
Honestly, I’m really hoping they lean into a darker side of Wednesday in the next season. But please, let’s not mistake ‘dark’ for just being grumpy! It would be great to see her still find joy in things, even if she doesn’t really care what others think. That said, you’ll never catch me telling Wednesday to crack a smile – absolutely not!
A third season of Wednesday is currently being planned, and is expected to be released around 2027. You can watch the first two seasons now on Netflix with a subscription.
