Kayla Wallace, known for her role in Landman, discussed some wild fan theories generated by AI on the latest episode of Debunking AI. She hinted that creator Taylor Sheridan always has surprising twists planned. Sheridan developed the Paramount+ series with Christian Wallace, and the first season was the platform’s biggest hit. Now, season 2 is starting strong and looks to surpass the success of the original.
In the series Landman, Wallace portrays Rebecca Falcone, the lawyer responsible for proving M-Tex Oil’s legal claims. She often clashes with Billy Bob Thornton’s character, Tommy Norris, as they disagree on how best to defend the company. With Tommy becoming President after the death of Monty Miller at the end of season one, their already complex relationship is likely to become even more challenging. According to Wallace, Rebecca is quick-witted and resourceful, able to use any information she gathers to her advantage.
In a recent interview with ScreenRant for the “Debunking AI” series, Wallace didn’t reveal any details about what will happen in season 2 of Landman. However, she had fun discussing AI-generated ideas for the show’s plot. She also reminisced about her favorite moments from season 1 and considered whether her character, Kayla, was truly immoral or just focused on getting things done.
AI Imagines Landman Season 2 Without Seeing A Single Episode

The AI accurately predicted a major moral dilemma for Rebecca in the upcoming second season, one that will pit her against the powerful M-Tex Oil company. Wallace remained tight-lipped about the specifics, saying, “I can’t reveal too much,” but hinted that dealing with M-Tex is never easy and rarely goes as planned. She ended by playfully telling viewers to “Stay tuned” for more.
Things got really interesting when fans started suggesting a potential romance between Rebecca and Tommy, and honestly, Wallace’s reaction – just a simple ‘Huh’ – said it all. You could practically feel Ashley Norris (Ali Larter) bracing herself! She playfully dodged the question, telling us to ‘keep watching and find out for ourselves.’ Then, someone threw out a wild idea: a crossover with Mayor of Kingstown and a relationship between Rebecca and Mike McCluskey. She quickly shut that down, though, pointing out Rebecca’s fiercely competitive nature – a pairing just wouldn’t work, and I have to agree.
A popular fan theory suggests Rebecca might be the secret daughter of Monty Miller, though she doesn’t know it. Wallace jokingly blamed the idea on AI, but admitted she’d be interested in seeing that storyline unfold. She encouraged viewers to keep watching to find out if it’s true. If Rebecca is Monty’s daughter, it would create compelling drama with his widow, Cami (Demi Moore).
Kayla Wallaca & AI Disagree On The Finer Points Of Rebecca’s Life
Wallace and AI both agreed that Rebeca is intelligent and driven, consistently using her strengths to keep M-Tex oil out of trouble. She hinted at more drama to come, saying, “There were a couple of accidents last season, and you’ll see some more chaos in season 2.” However, they strongly disagreed about where she gained those skills. When AI mentioned Columbia Law School, Wallace couldn’t help but laugh, asking, “Where did they get that from?” The character actually went to Northwestern, which is visible in one scene. “You can see it on her hat in the wonderful snake scene we filmed in season 1.” Unfortunately, Wallace wasn’t able to keep the hat from the set, saying it’s likely still in the wardrobe truck, but she hopes to get one if they film another season.
The AI classified Rebecca as an antihero, which Wallace playfully responded to with, “Wow. I’m just doing my job. Don’t hate the messenger!” She then explained her approach to the character, saying she enjoys playing someone powerful. “It’s a lot of fun to have the power that she has and to play around with those scenes, so I have a lot more fun being a stronger character than I would with somebody that’s more like me, who’s a little quiet.” Despite this, she didn’t fully accept the antihero label. “I don’t know if I’m an anti-hero, though. That’s harsh. You’ll see in season 2.”
Kayla Wallace Recalls Some Of Her Favorite (And Wildest) Landman Set Days
AI helped actress Wallace share behind-the-scenes stories from the first season of Landman, letting her fondly remember her favorite scene. She described the deposition scene in episode 4 as “a really fun day” to film.
Honestly, when I first read the script and got to that scene, I was totally overwhelmed. The monologues were huge, and all the legal talk just went right over my head! But then, filming it turned into a blast. I had so much fun playing around with it all day, and it’s definitely one of my favorite memories from the whole experience.
It was a really satisfying moment – I felt like I’d actually pulled it off. I went from being completely stressed to feeling confident that I could handle it. I think I could even recreate the scene if I saw a recording of it. I specifically remember the word ‘frivolous’ being part of the dialogue, so we filmed the deposition scene with Billy, where he’s on camera. I gave him a quick wink, and then we moved to the next location. We filmed those scenes in order, which was helpful. The first scene probably took around three hours, while the second one took about five. There was a lot of walking in high heels, and my feet were really aching by the end of the day.
She said her most unforgettable behind-the-scenes experience was definitely meeting a rattlesnake. Apparently, the production team had two snakes on set, just in case! The first snake was sleepy and coiled up, so they brought in a second, more active snake that ended up being used for the scene.
Wallace was impressed with AI’s ability to recall basic details about her work, though it didn’t quite capture all the subtleties of her character, Rebecca. She found the AI’s predictions for the second season intriguing, but ultimately believes Taylor Sheridan’s writing is far superior.
