In Marvel’s Uncanny X-Men #22, a party is crashed by Mutina, a powerful and dangerous mutant. She demands a huge favor from the X-Men, and the consequences of refusal will be deadly. Expect action, betrayal, and a shocking reveal that will change how you see a key member of the team – all with a side of cake and blades!
Letitia Leech, who goes by the name Mutina, first appeared in Uncanny X-Men #17, created by Gail Simone and Luciano Vecchio. She’s a passionate and vocal opponent of mutants, and even plays one on television. When Mutina appeared, she quickly became a significant threat to the X-Men. The young mutant team known as the Outliers soon faced off against her, discovering a surprising secret before the X-Men joined the fight and ultimately defeated her.
Marvel’s new ‘Shadows of Tomorrow’ storyline was first announced at New York Comic Con. Taking place decades before the events of ‘Age of Revelation,’ the story will begin in the core X-Men titles – X-Men, Uncanny X-Men, and Wolverine – and then expand into seven new comic book series. These include three limited series: Rogue (written by Erica Schultz with art by Luigi Zagaria), Magik & Colossus (by Ashley Allen and German Peralta), and Cyclops (from writer Alex Paknadel and artist Roge Antonio).
In addition to the main “Shadows of Tomorrow” series, four other titles will continue as ongoing comics. These include Inglorious X-Force by Tim Seeley and Michael Sta. Maria, Wade Wilson: Deadpool by Benjamin Percy and Geoff Shaw, Generation X-23 by Jody Houser and Jacopo Camigni, and Storm: Earth’s Mightiest Mutant by Murewa Ayodele and Federica Mancin. Though fans will likely enjoy the “Shadows of Tomorrow” storyline, the characters involved are already focused on a future event called the “Age of Revelation” and trying to prevent it.
Uncanny X-Men #22 goes on sale Jan. 26, 2026 from Marvel Comics.
