Those excited about Denis Villeneuve’s Dune movies have been waiting for the third film, and it sounds like filming has finished! This final movie in the popular trilogy, based on Frank Herbert’s novel Dune: Messiah, is now moving into editing and special effects.
Dune: Part 3 has seemingly wrapped filming ahead of its 2026 release date
A fan page on X (formerly Twitter) that posts about Timothée Chalamet and Dune announced that filming for the third movie has finished.
Timothée Chalamet’s fan account posted a message thanking everyone involved in making Dune: Part Three, confirming that filming has finished.
The post also included a caption stating that filming for Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Dune: Part Three’ has finished.
I really enjoy following this fan page – they usually have great information about Timothée Chalamet. However, I’m taking the recent news about whether Dune: Part Three has finished filming with a bit of caution. As far as I know, Warner Bros. hasn’t officially confirmed anything about filming being completed just yet, so it’s best to wait for an official announcement.
The next film from director Denis Villeneuve, following up on 2024’s Dune: Part Two, will likely cover the story of Frank Herbert’s novel, Dune: Messiah, and incorporate elements from the book Children of Dune.
Timothée Chalamet will be back as Paul Atreides in the third Dune movie, with Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Florence Pugh, and Anya Taylor-Joy also returning. The cast will also include new faces like Nakoa-Wolf Momoa, Ida Brooke, and Robert Pattinson.
Denis Villeneuve is directing and co-writing the screenplay for Dune: Part Three with Jon Spaihts. The film is scheduled for release on December 18, 2026.
