Stranger Things: Netflix Investigated Millie Bobby Brown’s Bullying Complaint

Before starting the final season of Stranger Things, Netflix and the show’s creators looked into a complaint made by Millie Bobby Brown about being bullied by her co-star, David Harbour. The investigation was done privately before production began.

What happened when Netflix looked into Millie Bobby Brown’s complaint

After Millie Bobby Brown shared concerns about her treatment, Netflix looked into her claims about David Harbour. Variety reported that the streaming service spent several months investigating allegations of bullying and harassment made by Brown.

According to Deadline, a disagreement between Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour happened sometime during the filming of Stranger Things, but likely not right before Season 5. Sources told the publication that Brown did raise concerns about Harbour’s behavior, but the issue was addressed and hasn’t been a problem since. The incident probably occurred earlier in the show’s production.

Netflix finished its investigation before starting work on Season 5 and considers the issue closed. Neither Netflix, nor representatives for David Harbour or Millie Bobby Brown, have publicly commented on what the claims involved.

Following a report in the Daily Mail on November 1st, the cast members were seen together at the Los Angeles premiere on November 6th. They walked the red carpet together, posed for pictures, and shared kind words about each other in interviews. Millie Bobby Brown described David Harbour as “really special,” and Harbour said he was “proud to watch them all grow up.” Netflix shared a video of their interactions with fans, which Brown’s beauty brand, Florence by Mills, then reposted with a heart emoji.

During a recent event, the creators of Stranger Things, Matt and Ross Duffer, and executive producer Shawn Levy discussed the well-being of the cast. Levy explained to The Hollywood Reporter that they prioritized creating a comfortable and safe work environment for everyone involved. Ross Duffer added that after working with the cast for a decade, they feel like family, and ensuring a safe and happy set is their top priority.

The Daily Mail’s story appeared around the same time as news about Harbour’s divorce from singer Lily Allen, who wrote about their breakup on her new album. Even with this personal drama, Harbour and Brown still appear together in many scenes during the final season. Netflix plans to release the season in three parts, starting November 26th and finishing December 31st, 2025.
