The Marvel Cinematic Universe is gearing up to reunite Earth’s greatest heroes in Avengers: Doomsday, scheduled for release in 2026. With a new Avengers team already forming in this year’s Thunderbolts*, Phase 6 will also see the classic Avengers assemble to face the largest threat the multiverse has ever known.
Channing Tatum recently spoke with Deadline about the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film, where he’ll reprise his role as Gambit. He acknowledged the immense pressure to deliver, stating, “Everyone will be watching this movie.” Tatum also expressed his confidence in Marvel Studios, adding, “They consistently exceed expectations, so it’s hard not to believe they’ll do it again.”
Channing Tatum believes the upcoming film, Avengers: Doomsday, will be massive, potentially the biggest movie of the next year, or even the next decade. He was amazed by the ambition of the project, wondering how the directors, Anthony and Joe Russo, would pull it off after their work on Avengers: Endgame. This film will be the Russo brothers’ first project since completing Endgame.
The actor playing Roofman hinted at some impressive action sequences in the upcoming 2026 film. The 45-year-old described the experience as challenging but rewarding, saying, “It was a huge undertaking, and I’m still amazed by it. I did a lot of action in this movie, but that was just the tip of the iceberg.”
While Gambit is joining the cast of Avengers: Doomsday, he won’t be the only X-Men character returning. Several actors who originally played these roles in the Fox-Marvel films are reprising their parts. Notably, Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen will once again play Professor X and Magneto, the characters they famously portrayed in the early 2000s.
The first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday is set to be released in December 2025, and it’s expected to give fans a good look at the film’s massive scale, as hinted at in a recent interview with Tatum. Filming wrapped up on September 19, 2025, and although it’s uncertain who will return for future movies, the Russo brothers are directing Avengers: Secret Wars.
The next Marvel movie coming to theaters will be Spider-Man: Brand New Day, starring Tom Holland, on July 31, 2026. Following that, Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled for release on December 18, 2026.
