DC Studios is developing several Batman projects that explore different parts of the character’s rich history. Because Batman is such a popular superhero in Hollywood, we can expect to see major new versions of the Dark Knight on screen in the next few years.
Swaybox Studios, a key studio working on the new movie Dynamic Duo, announced on Instagram that they’ll begin casting on November 15, 2025. They shared a video asking, “Have you ever dreamed of being in a DC Studios movie?” You can find the video below.
Development on the film Dynamic Duo began on October 1, 2024, with Arthur Mintz as the director. Matt Reeves’ production company, 6th & Idaho, is producing the film. Later, on September 9, 2025, Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber were brought in to revise the script.
The upcoming story will center around the beginnings of the first two Robins, Dick Grayson and Jason Todd. It’s also DC Studios’ largest animated project to date, created in partnership with Warner Bros. Pictures Animation.
Many fans have been wondering if the upcoming film Dynamic Duo will be officially part of James Gunn’s new DC Universe, or if it will be a separate story like The Batman universe. Gunn recently addressed this question at a press event in February 2025, where ScreenRant was present, clarifying whether the project fits into the first chapter of the DCU, known as “Gods and Monsters.”
Gunn explained he hadn’t responded previously because he was considering whether the project could fit into the DC Universe. He’s enthusiastic about the idea of including the animated film in the DCU, but acknowledges its unique story might not align with the established universe. It’s currently unclear which characters will appear in the film, referred to as the ‘Dynamic Duo’ movie.
Besides the upcoming “Dynamic Duo” film, DC Studios recently completed filming the “Clayface” movie on November 1, 2025. This movie will center on Tom Rhys Harries as Matt Hagen, also known as the shapeshifting villain Clayface, and will be part of the new DC Universe. Work is still underway on the script for “The Brave and The Bold,” which will be Bruce Wayne’s standalone film within James Gunn’s DC franchise. Currently, “The Batman – Part II” is slated for release on October 1, 2027, with Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson expected to begin filming in 2026.
Dynamic Duo is slated to hit theaters on June 30, 2028.
