The 1987 film The Running Man isn’t considered a very accurate adaptation of Stephen King’s story, but it was a major hit for Arnold Schwarzenegger. Now, with a new version of The Running Man generating excitement, people are curious to know what Schwarzenegger thinks. He’s officially given his support to Edgar Wright’s upcoming adaptation of King’s 1982 novel, previously calling the original film “incredible” and now publicly endorsing Wright and the new lead actor, Glen Powell, for the 2025 release.
Wright shared the big moment on Instagram, with the video you’ll see below showing Arnold Schwarzenegger commending him and Powell for how their adaptation of The Running Man “upped” what he did nearly 40 years ago:

It’s a big compliment when Arnold Schwarzenegger says the new version of The Running Man is better than his own. He explains in a video that this is the only one of his films he’s ever wanted to see remade, and he thinks it was done really well. He was particularly impressed with the action sequences, calling them “unbelievable and creative,” and he enjoyed a playful detail: the $100 bills in the movie feature his face! Fans spotted this Easter egg in the first trailer.

Tom Cruise Supported Glen Powell’s Latest Release In Theaters, And He’s Got The Popcorn To Prove It
Stephen King has watched the remake of ‘The Running Man’ starring Glen Powell, and he compared it to a classic, well-known action film to express his opinion.
As a playful ending to their chat, Edgar Wright and Glen Powell gave Arnold Schwarzenegger a giant fake $100 bill. Hopefully, the actor who famously played Ben Richards in 1987 will find a great spot to display it—it’s far too impressive to be left forgotten in a corner!
As a huge cinema fan, I was thrilled to see a new clip of Arnold Schwarzenegger championing The Running Man – and it dropped just a week before its release! This time, Glen Powell steps into the role of Ben Richards, a guy competing on the wildly popular TV show of the same name. He’s doing it all for his daughter, who needs medical care, but there’s a catch: he has to survive a month of being hunted by skilled killers to win the prize money. It sounds intense!
Edgar Wright not only directed the film, but also co-wrote the screenplay with Michael Bacall. The cast features Glen Powell alongside stars like Josh Brolin, Colman Domingo, William H. Macy, Lee Pace, Michael Cera, Emilia Jones, and Jayme Lawson. The Running Man will be released in theaters on Friday, November 14th.
