Negotiations between YouTube TV and Disney are proving difficult, and a deal to restore channels like ABC and ESPN isn’t finalized yet. Disney confirmed on Friday that they still haven’t reached an agreement, leaving these channels unavailable on YouTube TV since they were removed on October 30th.
In a message to employees, Disney executives Dana Walden, Alan Bergman, and Jimmy Pitaro acknowledged the frustration surrounding the ongoing dispute with YouTube TV. They stated that, like the millions of YouTube TV subscribers, they are also eager to know when ESPN and ABC channels will return to the service, especially during a busy sports season. Unfortunately, they don’t have an answer yet and a deal remains unresolved as another sports-filled weekend approaches.
YouTube recently announced that if a dispute between Disney and Google causes a prolonged removal of Disney content from YouTube TV, subscribers will receive a $20 credit. The disagreement centers around how much Google-owned YouTube TV should pay Disney for each subscriber.
