Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson are finally sharing the screen together, and Lawrence has shared her hopes for how audiences will receive their new film. In Lynne Ramsay’s Die, My Love, hitting theaters tomorrow, November 7th, Lawrence and Pattinson star as a married couple and new parents. The story follows Grace, played by Lawrence, as she struggles with mental health while isolated with her husband in a remote cabin.
Jennifer Lawrence rose to global fame for her role as Katniss Everdeen in the four Hunger Games films, which came out between 2012 and 2015. But she’s also had a very successful career in a variety of roles, including appearing in the X-Men franchise, and has received four Academy Award nominations, winning one for Silver Linings Playbook.
Robert Pattinson was once a major teen idol, famous for playing the vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight Saga. That series’ popularity began to fade around the time The Hunger Games became a hit. While Pattinson faced criticism for Twilight and his role in it, he’s now firmly established as a leading actor, working with acclaimed directors like Christopher Nolan and Matt Reeves.
With these two actors known for huge franchises like The Hunger Games and Twilight, viewers are excited to see them share the screen. Jimmy Fallon pointed out on The Tonight Show that fans online are especially thrilled to see “Katniss and Edward” together in a film, and Jennifer Lawrence hopes the movie will be recognized for more than just that pairing.
Jennifer Lawrence is worried audiences might go to see the movie expecting something similar to popular fan fiction, like stories about Katniss and Edward. She describes the film as a unique and artistic piece, quite different from that. She hopes people won’t be upset if it doesn’t match their expectations, and she’s anxious about potential negative reactions.
The film Die, My Love received positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and is known for being a suspenseful psychological thriller with darkly comedic elements. Interestingly, it’s rarely described as a romance. Similar to another film released this year, If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, Die, My Love offers a disturbing look at motherhood, focusing on a protagonist whose partner is untrustworthy.
The movie’s advertising suggests it’s different from the kind of fan-created stories author Lawrence describes, but longtime fans of The Hunger Games and Twilight might still enjoy it because of this, even though the plot is a bit disturbing.
In addition to Jennifer Lawrence, “Die, My Love” features LaKeith Stanfield, Nick Nolte, and Sissy Spacek. While Lawrence may not be an Oscar contender in 2026, the film is already generating significant buzz and is expected to do well.
