Alien: Romulus 2 Gets Disappointing Sequel Update

Fans are feeling let down by the latest news regarding Alien: Romulus 2. Visual effects artist Alec Gillis has stated he doesn’t know how far along the sequel is in development. This comes about two months after director Fede Álvarez stopped working on the film.

Alec Gillis, a special effects artist who worked on Alien: Romulus, says there are no confirmed plans for a sequel right now. While rumors have surfaced about a potential follow-up film, Gillis hasn’t been contacted to begin working on it.

While at the premiere of Predator: Badlands, designer Marco Gillis was asked if he was starting work on a follow-up film. He confirmed he hadn’t begun any designs himself, and wasn’t aware of anyone else doing so either, saying, ‘Maybe there are people who are, but they’re not talking to me.’

The designer, famous for his work on the Alien and Predator movies, would like to contribute to future installments. He expressed optimism, saying, “I think they’ll come back to me eventually, and I hope they do.” His recent projects include Predator: Killer of Killers and Prey.

Fede Álvarez, the director of Alien: Romulus, has finished the script for a potential sequel with Rodo Sayagues. However, Álvarez won’t be directing the next film. He and Ridley Scott, who created the Alien franchise, will both be producers on the project.

The filmmaker told TooFab in September that they’re stepping down as director but will still produce the project alongside Ridley Scott. They’re currently searching for a new director to take over.

Currently, there’s no confirmed release date or production schedule for Alien: Romulus 2. Fans will need to stay tuned for more information.
