What happens in the Wonder Man teaser trailer?
The trailer introduces Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as an actor hoping to land the main role in a superhero film called Wonder Man, directed by the acclaimed Von Kovak (Zlatko Burić). Towards the end of the trailer, we see Trevor and Simon at a restaurant where Simon seemingly uses telekinesis to move a glass on the table.
The clip finishes with Simon being asked to sign a form stating he doesn’t have any superpowers, and he seems unsure about doing so.
I was so captivated hearing Yahya Abdul-Mateen speak at New York Comic Con! He shared how much he poured into playing Simon in Wonder Man, saying it allowed him to explore all these really complex parts of being human – the vulnerability, the ambition, even the loneliness that comes with chasing a dream. He’s truly excited for us to see Simon’s journey, and honestly, after hearing him talk about it, I am too! It sounds like a deeply personal role for him, and I can’t wait to see what he brings to it.
Kingsley explained that returning to his Marvel role was a pleasure, and described the show as a tribute to Los Angeles. He noted that LA represents the dreams of everyone in the entertainment industry, creating a fantastic atmosphere on set. Filming there felt like a gift, surrounded by the history and legacy of classic Hollywood, which continues to thrive today.
Wonder Man, the new series from Marvel Studios, is coming to Disney+ on January 27, 2026. It will consist of eight episodes.
