Batman’s Biggest Problem Has Been Revealed – And It Might Get Him Killed

A key element of Batman’s history might lead to his downfall, stemming from a defeat he experienced in the older DC K.O. series.

A preview of DC K.O.: Knightfight #1 (from DC Comics, by Joshua Williamson, Dan Mora, Tríona Farrell, and Tom Napolitano) shows the moment Batman was stabbed by the Joker in the first issue of DC K.O. Luckily, Batman had equipped his suit with technology that could instantly transport him back to Gotham if he was injured. However, when he returns, he finds a drastically changed Gotham City, and his former Robins aren’t pleased to see him.

Robin is a key figure in DC Comics. The very first Robin, Dick Grayson, first appeared in Detective Comics #38 back in 1940, in a story created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane. Over the years, several other characters have become Robin, including Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Stephanie Brown, and Damian Wayne.

The big tournament central to DC K.O. was first hinted at in July, right before San Diego Comic-Con. It’s been described as an all-out battle between DC’s most popular heroes in a universe-saving tournament against Darkseid. According to creator Tom Snyder, Darkseid has become more powerful than ever, and his actions threaten the entire DC Universe. The heroes’ only hope is to defeat him now, and the tournament will be a brutal, no-holds-barred competition where losing means elimination.

The first issue of DC K.O., created by Scott Snyder, Javi Fernández, Xermánico, Alejandro Sánchez, and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou, features a massive battle between DC’s heroes and villains. The goal? To find someone powerful enough to stop Darkseid, a being who could take complete control of reality and threaten the entire Multiverse. The Quantum Quarum – a group including the Time Trapper, the World Forger, Grodd, and Booster Gold – explained the danger. What’s even more unsettling is that Darkseid has been hiding among the heroes, disguised as none other than Booster Gold himself, who’s become an insider with both the Quantum Quarum and the Justice League.

DC K.O.: Knightfight #1 goes on sale November 5 from DC Comics.
