Stephen King’s stories have been adapted into many films, including classics like Brian De Palma’s Carrie (1976), Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining (1980), and Rob Reiner’s Misery (1990). More recently, his work has found success on television with streaming series such as HBO’s The Outsider (2020), Apple TV+’s Lisey’s Story (2021), The Stand (2020–2021) on Paramount+, and The Institute (2025–) on MGM+, with one series currently experiencing a resurgence in popularity.

Like Midnight Mass, Widow’s Bay is set in a secluded, charming island community in New England, hinting at a hidden mystery. The series will be released on April 29th, so viewers won’t have to wait long to discover what that mystery is.

A new report from Universal Pictures International Spain details the studio’s upcoming film projects over the next several years. While the list includes many promising titles, one film—currently known as the “Untitled Illumination/Nintendo Event Film” with a planned release date of April 12, 2028—is generating particular excitement.

When it was at its peak, Cheers produced episodes that were better than most comedies on TV today, and season 4’s “The Peterson Principle” is a perfect illustration of this. Fans are loving the film too, as evidenced by its 88% score on Rotten Tomatoes’ Popcornmeter and a ‘Verified Hot’ rating. This success paves the way for three more video game movies coming out later this year, all hoping to achieve similar results.

Currently, Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed is the most popular movie on Tubi in the U.S., according to Flix Patrol. It’s taken the No. 1 spot from the 1987 action film Predator, which is now in second place.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth was first released on PlayStation 5 in 2024, with a version for Windows PCs following in 2025. While sales didn’t meet Square Enix’s goals, many players felt this was because it was only available on one platform. Now, the game is expanding to other consoles, launching on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S on June 3, 2026.

The show is packed with funny scenes and memorable quotes thanks to its cast of flawed characters: Frank’s bluntness, Charlie’s struggles with language, Dennis’ unsettling personality, Mac’s dramatic reactions, and Dee’s wild behavior. Fans can watch the same episodes over and over again and still find it consistently funny.
