It was a political thriller, and everyone was expecting big things. But it totally flopped, which was a huge surprise. A lot of critics actually said having such a star-studded cast hurt the show, because it created expectations the series just couldn’t meet. It was a real shame, because on paper, it should have been a hit.

MGM+ has shared a sneak peek at its upcoming psychological drama, American Hostage, with new photos of Jon Hamm on set. The series also stars Giovanni Ribisi, Mireille Enos, Kristoffer Polaha, and William Jackson Harper. American Hostage is based on a true story about a kidnapping and the demand that a specific radio reporter, Fred Heckman, be allowed to interview the kidnapper. While a specific date hasn’t been set, the show is anticipated to debut this fall.
