As much as I love Star Trek: The Original Series – and I really do think it’s one of the greatest sci-fi shows ever – there are a few episodes that just don’t quite hit the mark. One that always felt a little off to me is the season two finale, “Assignment: Earth.” It first aired way back in 1968, and it’s the one where the Enterprise crew goes back in time to… well, 1968! They run into this really strange guy named Gary Seven, played by Robert Lansing, who has all sorts of futuristic tech, and the whole thing just felt a bit weird compared to the rest of the series.

Takara Tomy recently showed off the first images of their Transformers Missing Link Ironhide figure. It’s a unique take on the classic character, with a design that significantly differs from the original toy. As a figure based on the Diaclone series, it’s a departure for the Transformers line. However, the design still pays homage to Ironhide’s roots, and an updated version with a different color scheme is also planned.

Titus Welliver has become strongly associated with the character, having played Harry Bosch for all ten seasons of both Bosch and Bosch: Legacy. He even made brief appearances in the new series Ballard in the summer of 2025. But now, he’s no longer the only actor portraying Harry Bosch.

Since its launch, Astro Bot has received several expansions with new challenges beyond the original game, including the Vicious Void DLC which surprised fans last summer. However, there hasn’t been much news about Astro Bot in 2026, leading many to speculate that an announcement for Astro Bot 2 might be coming soon (according to discussions on Reddit).

Despite being a strong film, Pacific Rim only hinted at the full scope of its world. Due to its length, much of the backstory – like past Kaiju attacks, stories of previous Jaeger pilots, and how humanity adapted to the war – was presented in small pieces. This left fans wanting to learn more about the franchise’s interesting universe, and Pacific Rim: The Black aims to deliver exactly that.

In addition to the new spinoff series, June will bring a variety of content including several documentaries and a fresh series starring Larry David, titled Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness. Viewers can also look forward to A24 films like Pillion, featuring Alexander Skarsgard, and How to Make a Killing with Glen Powell, among other releases.

Apple TV has drawn in acclaimed actors – including Gary Oldman, Jon Hamm, Jennifer Aniston, and Idris Elba – not with attention-grabbing casting choices, but by offering them compelling and well-written stories. These roles have become highlights in the actors’ impressive careers, showcasing their talent in new ways.

After five seasons, the superhero series has ended on Prime Video, revealing what happens to its main characters. In the final episode of The Boys, Kimiko stripped Homelander of his powers, allowing Billy Butcher to defeat and kill him at the White House. However, Billy also died in the finale when Hughie prevented him from releasing a deadly virus. While the show aimed for a hopeful conclusion, fans have had very mixed reactions to how it ended.

Lots of science fiction shows are either reimagining older series or creating completely new stories. While they all try to capture what made Star Wars so beloved, these shows don’t just rely on familiar elements—they actually build on them, going beyond the original’s iconic imagery.

James Mangold’s film, A Complete Unknown, originally premiered in theaters on Christmas 2024 and was first available to stream on Hulu. It was later removed from Hulu, and viewers could only rent or buy it—until now.
