Despite all the new content, it’s important to remember the classic shows that originally popularized fantasy on TV. According to data from FlixPatrol, the TV show Tracker has been losing viewers over the past week. As of today, May 3rd, it’s no longer in the Top 10 shows on Paramount+ in the United States. The show reached its highest point last week on April 28th, ranking at #4, but quickly declined. By May 1st, it had fallen to 9th place, then to 10th yesterday, and is now off the chart completely. This is disappointing news for fans, especially with the season finale still to come on May 24th.

While The Hobbit movies weren’t as successful as The Lord of the Rings films, they’re still officially part of Peter Jackson’s Middle-earth story, and The Hunt for Gollum aims to connect the two trilogies. The new film will feature both Thranduil and Aragorn, giving director Andy Serkis and his team a chance to revisit a dangling plot point from Thranduil’s last scene in The Hobbit – a storyline that has been brewing for over ten years.

It’s rare for science fiction shows to influence each other so directly. The Expanse seems to have taken cues from classics like Battlestar Galactica and Babylon 5, and in turn, newer shows have been inspired by The Expanse itself. These space operas all have a lot in common, making The Expanse a standout in a relatively small group.
