As a huge cinema fan, I found it fascinating to hear screenwriter Jeremy Slater talk about the shocking deaths in Mortal Kombat II, and what they could mean for the future of the series. He revealed something really interesting about Cole Young, the main character Lewis Tan played who was created just for the first film. Apparently, Slater actually pitched the idea of killing him off way back during the initial brainstorming sessions, even before he was officially writing the script! He jokingly said it was ‘someone else’s problem’ at that point, which I thought was a pretty candid admission.
