Harrison Ford, known for his roles in Star Wars and Indiana Jones, publicly criticized President Trump this week, calling him a major criminal.
Harrison Ford is famous for playing iconic heroes like Indiana Jones and Han Solo, and even the President in a film. However, in a recent interview, the veteran actor stepped away from his adventurous roles to criticize President Trump and those who voted for him, entering a common debate in Hollywood.

In an interview with The Guardian, Ford strongly criticized both the 45th and 47th U.S. Presidents regarding their climate policies, going so far as to call one of them one of the worst figures in history and accusing both of harmful actions.
Here are Ford’s full remarks from the interview, presented without edits:
He doesn’t operate based on established plans, but rather on sudden impulses, which is deeply concerning. His lack of knowledge, excessive pride, dishonesty, and betrayal are frightening. He’s aware of the consequences, but seems driven by personal gain and maintaining the existing power structure, even as things fall apart. Frankly, I believe he’s one of the most corrupt individuals in history.
Ford added that all of their previous warnings about climate change have unfortunately proven accurate. They questioned why this isn’t enough to motivate people to change their habits, suggesting that existing systems and ways of doing things are a major obstacle.

And later added: “He’s losing ground because everything he says is a lie.”
Ford ultimately shifted his focus to a more optimistic outlook, expressing confidence that we can address climate change. He believes we can slow its effects while we develop new technologies and adjust our habits, and then fully put those solutions into practice. However, he emphasized the need for both the political support and the understanding required to recognize our ability to adapt and innovate. He believes that when we focus on a problem, we can usually find a solution.
These remarks came as Ford received a conservation award at Chicago’s Field Museum.
A Familiar Hollywood Script
Harrison Ford is undoubtedly a famous movie star. However, his recent statements are part of a growing pattern in Hollywood: well-known actors using interviews and public appearances to not only support issues they believe in, but also to criticize large groups of voters.

It feels a bit strange to hear about climate change from people who regularly use private jets, especially when many Americans are struggling with money or high energy bills.
Ford’s passion is real. So is the disconnect.
The Broader Divide
Entertainment used to bring people together, offering experiences everyone could enjoy, regardless of their political beliefs. Now, it’s more common to see celebrities using their platforms to express political opinions, which leaves many viewers feeling like they’re being talked at instead of being entertained.

It’s not about whether Harrison Ford can share his opinions – of course he can, we all can. What really bothers me is whether Hollywood realizes how much they disconnect from regular people when famous actors paint millions of Americans as if they’re somehow involved in terrible things from the past. It feels like they’re not seeing us as fellow citizens, but as the enemy, and that’s really alienating.
When trying to convince someone of something, calling them an accomplice to a terrible person probably isn’t the best way to reach them.

Ford’s impact in film is undeniable. However, incidents like this demonstrate why public trust in celebrities taking political stances is declining, and why many Americans are tuning out Hollywood’s political messaging.
