Fans have consistently wondered about the possible return of Finn Jones as Iron Fist. He played the martial arts hero from 2017, appearing in two seasons of his own Netflix series and the team-up show Defenders. Despite the revival of other Marvel shows that originally aired on Netflix, Jones hasn’t been confirmed to reprise his role in this new phase.
Charlie Jones, who previously played Iron Fist on Netflix, recently got fans talking about a possible return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He shared a photo on Instagram of a brightly lit dojo sign, suggesting he’s resumed martial arts training, which fueled the speculation.
Recent developments have sparked speculation that Finn Jones might reprise his role as Iron Fist within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The last we saw of Danny Rand, also known as Iron Fist, was at the end of Season 2 of his show, where he had moved to Japan and left his responsibilities at Rand Enterprises. The next installment in the shared storyline, Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, will be available on Disney+ in March.
When Will Iron Fist Return to the MCU?
So far, Marvel hasn’t officially announced plans to bring Iron Fist back into the main Marvel Cinematic Universe storyline.
There’s been a lot of talk about this character potentially returning in future seasons of Daredevil: Born Again, but so far, nothing has been officially confirmed.
With Jones returning to training, it’s likely he’ll be in the third season of Born Again, currently planned for 2027 (similar to how Daredevil is expected to be released yearly by Disney, if feasible). The second season will reportedly feature Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock battling the formidable Mayor Wilson Fisk, and building a team of vigilantes to defeat him.
It seems likely someone with Iron Fist’s skills would be a big help in a fight like that. Maybe Daredevil’s hero doesn’t manage to beat Fisk by the end of Season 2, which would lead him to ask for Danny Rand’s help in Season 3.
Whether or not Finn Jones will reprise his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still up in the air. The comics have featured many different versions of Iron Fist, so Marvel doesn’t need to use the original character if they decide to tell another Iron Fist story.
A new take on the Iron Fist hero recently showed up in the Eyes of Wakanda series, suggesting that this character might be the direction the franchise is heading.
