Ray Romano Joins Netflix’s Running Point Season 2 In Major Role

Ray Romano will be joining the cast of season 2 of the Netflix comedy series, Running Point. The show follows Isla Gordon (Kate Hudson) as she takes over as president of the Los Angeles Waves basketball team when her brother has to leave the position.

Just a week after it premiered on Netflix in February, Running Point was picked up for a second season. They started filming in August, but we don’t have a release date for the new season yet.

According to Deadline, actor Romano will appear in season 2 as Coach Norman Stinson, a former basketball expert who has withdrawn from public life. He’ll rediscover his love for the game and challenge himself when he begins working with Isla.

Robert Townsend was initially chosen to play Stinson, but the role was later given to another actor after changes were made to the character for new filming.

The cast of Running Point features Hudson, Romano, Brenda Song, Justin Theroux, Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, Fabrizio Guido, Chet Hanks, Toby Sandeman, Uche Agada, and Max Greenfield. Justin Theroux and Uche Agada, who both appeared in previous seasons, are now main cast members for season 2.

With Running Point, Romano is back on Netflix after previously appearing in the series No Good Deed, a dark comedy that premiered on December 12, 2024. As of now, No Good Deed won’t be returning for another season.

I’m really excited about the quick renewal for season two of Running Point! Depending on what happens with Romano’s character this season, I could definitely see him becoming a recurring face throughout the show for years to come. It feels like they’re setting him up for something big!

I’ve been really enjoying Running Point, and it’s great to see it getting such a positive response – lots of people are watching! What’s even more interesting is that a lot of us are seeing similarities to Ted Lasso, that fantastic show on Apple TV. It’s no surprise Ted Lasso is coming back for a fourth season, everyone was clamoring for more after those first three seasons!

Now that Romano has joined the cast, excitement is building for season 2 of Running Point. The well-known star of Everybody Loves Raymond is a popular actor and will appear alongside Hudson and other leading actors in the new episodes.

Now that filming for the new season of began in August and they’re currently doing some additional shooting, Netflix subscribers can probably expect to see it in late 2026.
