Keanu Reeves is starting to prepare for his next big action role. After his character, the popular assassin who loved dogs, seemingly died (though a sequel is rumored!), Reeves is looking for another opportunity to play a tough hero – and adapting his own comic book into a movie seems like the ideal project.
BRZRKR is a visually stunning and intensely violent comic book series created by Keanu Reeves and acclaimed writer Matt Kindt. Illustrated by Ron Garney, with colors by Bill Crabtree and lettering by Clem Robins, the story centers on an immortal warrior and their 80,000-year journey through history.
The film adaptation of BRZRKR, which first began development in 2021, has been kept largely under wraps despite the popularity of Keanu Reeves and the story’s thrilling premise. However, it was recently announced that Justin Lin, known for directing several Fast & Furious movies, will direct, with a script from Mattson Tomlin, who also worked on The Batman: Part II. Lin recently told ScreenRant that he’s been collaborating closely with Reeves and Tomlin to faithfully bring Reeves’ original concept to the screen.
Right now, I’m really focused on projects that save time and are efficient, and this is definitely one of my favorites because of that.

Having directed several films in the Fast & Furious franchise – including Tokyo Drift, Fast & Furious, Fast Five, Fast & Furious 6, and F9 – the director has moved on from the series, stepping away from Fast X. Now, he’s expressed his admiration for Keanu Reeves’s talent and teamwork, and is excited to faithfully adapt the comic book BRZRKR for the screen.
Honestly, I feel incredibly lucky. Getting to collaborate with such talented people is a real gift, and I’m genuinely excited about what the future holds for me as a director. I’m eager to see where this next phase of my career takes me.
Keanu Reeves is set to star as the main character, an immortal warrior called “B.” Though Reeves initially thought about directing the movie himself, Chad Stahelski will direct this new action series, similar to the John Wick films.
