Stephen King names It: Welcome to Derry and four more for Halloween viewing

With Halloween approaching, Stephen King has shared his picks for spooky TV shows and movies. He specifically recommended five screen adaptations of his own stories as ideal choices for getting into the Halloween spirit.

Stephen King recently shared his Halloween reading recommendations on Threads, suggesting titles like The Institute (available on MGM+ and Prime Video), 1922, Gerald’s Game (both on Netflix), Lisey’s Story (Apple TV+), and It: Welcome to Derry (HBO Max). He added that there are other spooky options available for those who dare to look.

Just as the new series It: Welcome to Derry begins streaming on HBO Max, viewers are getting a look back at the origins of Pennywise’s reign of terror. The show, set in 1962, takes place in the town of Derry and features Bill Skarsgård returning as the terrifying clown.

In a recent interview with USA Today, Stephen King talked about the projects he’s currently working on, including another book in the Never Flinch series and a sequel to The Talisman and Black House. He explained he’s trying to finish as much work as possible, noting that ‘at his age, you can’t take anything for granted.’

Even though he’s still very busy, King says he’s planning to take things easier soon. He explained that after age 75 or 76, you can’t predict what will happen, so it’s important to be cautious and prepared for anything.
