While romance is common in Korean dramas (K-Dramas), the most memorable couples have a strong connection, are well-suited for each other, or their story feels satisfying. Since 2018, Netflix has played a big role in bringing these shows to audiences in the U.S. and around the world. With hundreds of titles available, Netflix lets viewers explore a wide range of Korean dramas, from classic series to brand new releases.
K-Dramas cover a wide range of genres, including drama, comedy, romance, science fiction, and horror. While storylines vary, it’s common for several main characters to develop romantic relationships. Though friendship is often featured, the romances are usually the biggest draw for viewers—and for good reason, as K-Drama love stories are often unforgettable.
20. Do Bong-soon and Ahn Min-hyuk
Strong Girl Bong-soon
The K-Drama Strong Girl Bong-soon is well-known, but while it includes fantastical elements, the central romance is the most memorable part. The show follows Do Bong-soon (played by Park Bo-young), who has incredible strength and ends up working as the bodyguard for CEO Ahn Min-hyuk (Park Hyung-sik).
The series weaves together several storylines to connect the two leads, like Bong-soon’s fantasy of starring in a video game and Min-hyuk’s work as the head of a gaming company. Their romance faces obstacles, but the actors share a strong and captivating connection.
19. Han Jeong-suk and Kim Do-hyun
A Virtuous Business
Set in the early 1990s, the K-Drama A Virtuous Business follows Han Jeong-suk, a single mother who starts selling adult products out of necessity. She and her three close friends and colleagues become determined to build a successful business. Meanwhile, detective Kim Do-hyun secretly investigates a mystery from his own past.
Do-hyun slowly begins to fall in love with Jeong-suk, and the three of them – including Jeong-suk’s young son – form a sweet and loving family. While Do-hyun wasn’t always a rescuer, he stepped in to help and protect Jeong-suk when needed. What was particularly nice about the show, A Virtuous Business, was that it often allowed Jeong-suk to handle things herself, which felt empowering and realistic.
18. Ban Ju-yeon and Baek Su-jeong
My Dearest Nemesis
The new drama, My Dearest Nemesis, centers around two people who were both hurt by past relationships. They meet and begin to fall for each other, unaware that they were actually each other’s first loves. This unexpected reconnection forces them to revisit their shared past and ultimately helps them grow as individuals.
Su-jeong and Ju-yeon have amazing chemistry because they accept each other, flaws and all. Ju-yeon, who usually maintains a serious public persona as a businessman, feels comfortable enough around Su-jeong to be his true, quirky self—a passionate fan of manga, figurines, and music. This unique connection is a major reason why My Dearest Nemesis is considered one of the top K-Dramas of 2025.
17. Woo Su-ji and Ma Sang-goo
Because This Is My First Life
The K-Drama Because This Is My First Life features a familiar storyline: two people pretending to be in a relationship. While the main couple has a great romance, many viewers found the connection between the supporting characters, Woo Su-ji and Ma Sang-goo, even more captivating. These two best friends share a particularly special and unusual bond.
Sang-goo is a somewhat clumsy CEO, and Su-ji deals with ongoing harassment at work even though she’s determined to succeed in her career. They connect and Sang-goo inspires Su-ji to pursue her goals and take chances, ultimately leading to a sweet moment where she unexpectedly proposes to him. While not the central couple in the drama, they were definitely a fan favorite.
16. Yoon Sae-bom and Jung Yi-hyun
Happiness
While many K-Dramas feature zombies, Happiness stands out as a top choice. The story follows Yoon Sae-bom, played by Han Hyo-joo, and Park Hyung-sik as Jung Yi-hyun, who team up to combat a nationwide outbreak of the Lytta Virus and uncover its origins.
The ongoing threat creates a lot of suspense, reaching its highest point when Yi-hyun becomes infected. This is the moment Sae-bom understands her feelings for him and promises to love him through everything, even as he starts to turn into a zombie. Ultimately, a cure is found, and the couple finally gets the happy ending they’ve earned after all they’ve been through.
15. Choi Ung and Kook Yeon-soo
Our Beloved Summer
I recently watched Our Beloved Summer, and the setup is just brilliant. It kicks off with this ex-couple, Choi Ung and Kook Yeon-soo, who suddenly find themselves back in each other’s lives because an old high school video of theirs goes viral. It’s fascinating watching them deal with all the feelings they never really addressed over the last ten years – it’s a really relatable and engaging story.
Although Our Beloved Summer features a friends-to-lovers storyline, the show mainly focuses on the characters’ personal journeys and how they’ve matured since their initial relationship. It’s not as filled with drama as many K-Dramas, but this focus on realism actually strengthens the characters and the sweet, understated romance.
14. Koo Se-ra and Seo Gong-myung
Memorials/Into The Ring
Koo Se-ra, the main character, is a standout K-Drama lead. She starts her political career simply to earn money, but surprisingly transforms into a dedicated advocate for the people she represents. Ultimately, she becomes a highly respected and admired politician.
Throughout the series, she develops a romance with Seo Gong-myung (played by Park Sung-hoon), and their relationship feels remarkably realistic for a K-Drama. What sets them apart from many other couples is that Se-ra and Gong-myung remain consistently together, offering a stable and comforting love story that runs alongside the main political plot.
13. Yoon Jin-ah and Seo Jun-hui
Something In The Rain
The K-Drama Something in the Rain feels very true to life, exploring topics like gender inequality at work and relationships with significant age differences. The story focuses on Yoon Jin-ah (played by Son Ye-jin) and Seo Jun-hui (Jung Hae-in), who have a six-year age gap – Jin-ah is in her 30s, and Jun-hui is in his late 20s.
While a six-year age gap might not seem like a big deal, it causes significant problems for the main characters in the K-Drama Something in the Rain. Fortunately, they overcome the criticism and eventually become a couple publicly.
12. Lee Yeo-reum and Ahn Dae-beom
Summer Strike
The K-Drama Summer Strike is set in the cozy seaside town of Angok, creating a relaxing and familiar atmosphere. However, the show quickly reveals a darker side with surprising and unsettling twists. The story begins when Lee Yeo-reum (played by Kim Seol-hyun) leaves her job and city life behind, eventually meeting Ahn Dae-beom (Im Si-wan), who works as the town librarian.
The romance between Dae-beom and Yeo-reum develops gradually and subtly as Yeo-reum integrates into the town and Dae-beom deals with his difficult history. While Summer Strike often presents beautiful and peaceful moments, it’s also surprisingly emotional. Despite this, Dae-beom and Yeo-reum make a charming and low-key couple that deserves more attention.
11. Nam Haeng-seon and Choi Chi-yeol
Crash Course In Romance
As a total K-Drama fan, I’ve seen a lot of school settings, but “Crash Course in Romance” really grabbed me. It’s not about students, though! The main guy, Choi Chi-yeol – played by Jung Kyung-ho – is this super popular, but kind of prickly, math teacher. He comes across as a bit arrogant at first, but then he tastes Nam Haeng-seon’s (Jeon Do-yeon) side dishes and, honestly, he’s hooked. He can’t get enough!
Chi-yeol starts tutoring Haeng-seon’s adopted daughter, and they develop a connection. Despite numerous obstacles, Chi-yeol’s feelings for Haeng-seon are stronger than his concern for what others think. He would always choose Haeng-seon over success and wealth, without hesitation.
