Kevin Federline Claims He Partied, But Britney Spears’ Partying Was What Led Her To Lose Custody Of The Kids

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline’s difficult divorce is back in the headlines thanks to Federline’s new memoir, You Thought You Knew. In the book, he makes some serious accusations about Spears, including claims of drug use and disturbing behavior, like allegedly standing at their sons’ bedroom doors with a knife while they slept. This behavior reportedly contributed to Spears losing custody of her children, though Federline also admits he was also heavily partying at the time.

Kevin Federline is receiving criticism after releasing his new book, with some accusing him of trying to financially benefit from his relationship with his ex-wife, whom he married in September 2004 after a brief courtship. A spokesperson for the singer of “…Baby One More Time” dismissed the claims as attention-seeking, noting the book’s release coincides with the end of child support payments from Federline. However, in a Vanity Fair interview, Federline stated he doesn’t solely blame his ex-wife.

I want to be clear that I also played a role in what happened. I’m not blaming anyone, and in my book, I explain this from a place of empathy. I get that she was going out and having fun, and honestly, I was doing the same things at the time. I definitely share the responsibility. But the key difference is that I always prioritized my kids. Once I had them, I made sure my choices wouldn’t negatively impact my parenting.

In his memoir, Kevin Federline describes his past parties as wild and excessive, detailing shocking scenes like strippers using drugs and multiple partners in his hot tub. However, he argues his behavior differs from Britney Spears’ because he wasn’t with their children, Sean Preston and Jayden James, during those times.

He claims his marriage ended and he gained full custody of their sons because his ex-wife was using cocaine while breastfeeding, as detailed in the book You Thought You Knew.

The struggling rapper claims he has Britney Spears’ best interests at heart and is simply trying to offer support. He went on to say:

I just hope she realizes there are people who have been unfairly criticized but still genuinely care and understand what’s happening. Despite everything, many people still support her and want to see her succeed. As a father, I have to stand up for my sons’ mother.

Kevin Federline says his memoir isn’t about money; he believes he deserves to share his story just as Britney Spears did in her 2023 book, The Woman in Me. He states he wishes her well and even suggests supporters of the #FreeBritney movement come together to help her.

Britney Spears responded to claims made by her ex-husband on X, stating that the ongoing manipulation is deeply upsetting and draining. She also emphasized that she has always desired a close relationship with her sons.

It’s upsetting to learn Britney Spears lost custody of her children, especially after Kevin Federline admitted to returning to his old partying habits.
