IMAX recently announced the full list of 20 films planned for its premium format in 2026. IMAX’s advanced camera, theater, and projection technology has become a standard for big-budget movies. Earning the IMAX label is a significant achievement, reserved for only the highest-quality blockbusters. While many IMAX releases are major franchises like Marvel, DC, and Star Wars, the format also showcases a variety of other films.
IMAX recently shared its upcoming movie lineup with shareholders, revealing 20 films planned for release over the next year. The schedule includes highly anticipated titles like The Odyssey, Super Mario Movie 2, and Avengers: Doomsday.

Ten of the recently released movies were filmed directly for IMAX theaters, while the rest were either adapted for the format or are animated and didn’t need special IMAX cameras.
