Johnny Depp is considering starring in a new adaptation of a well-known book. While he’s famous for playing Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, Depp has often appeared in remakes of classic stories, such as his roles in the 2005 film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and the 2010 movie Alice in Wonderland.
According to Deadline, Paramount is close to finalizing a deal for a new movie adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. The film, called Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol, will be a scary ghost story directed by Ti West (known for X and Pearl) and starring Johnny Depp.
Although it hasn’t been confirmed, Johnny Depp is widely expected to star as Ebenezer Scrooge in the upcoming film.
The film will also feature Andrea Riseborough, an Oscar nominee who has experience with adaptations of literary works, including her role in Matilda the Musical. If finalized, A Christmas Carol is scheduled to be released on November 13, 2026.
