Fans have been hoping to see a dedicated Hulk story in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since the release of Avengers: Endgame, and recent news suggests it might finally be happening. While Hulk is a popular character, the MCU hasn’t given him as many leading roles as some might expect, resulting in a somewhat fragmented storyline over the years.
Recent hints about the Hulk and his current situation have sparked a lot of curiosity about what Marvel plans to do with the character in future movies. This latest news about his story is both interesting and really promising.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s Hulk Set Photos Tease Big Things For The Marvel Hero

Recent photos from the set of Spider-Man: Brand New Day suggest an exciting new direction for Bruce Banner’s story in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially considering his limited screen time lately.
Recent photos from the set of the new Spider-Man movie show Mark Ruffalo without the markers used for motion capture, hinting that he’ll appear as Bruce Banner, rather than the Hulk, for at least part of the film. A video from the set also seems to show Ruffalo’s Banner being carried away on a stretcher.
After Avengers: Endgame changed the Hulk into Smart Hulk – basically merging Bruce Banner and his powerful, rage-fueled alter ego – we haven’t seen much of the original Hulk, or even Banner himself, really. So, it’s really cool to see the focus back on Bruce as a scientist in human form again.
Although Bruce Banner has been able to return to his human form after Endgame, the idea of him being human while injured is particularly noteworthy. It makes sense that if human Banner were in danger, he’d automatically transform back into the Smart Hulk.
Based on a recent set photo, it looks like the Hulk’s story is heading in a new direction, possibly leading to a return of his original form. Fans have been hoping to see this happen for years, wanting the classic Hulk they remember and love.
Why The MCU Needs To Give The Hulk A Big Storyline Now More Than Ever
Even though the Hulk has been a major Marvel hero for decades – even longer than many people have been alive – he surprisingly hasn’t been a central figure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Hulk hasn’t gotten many solo movies partly because past Hulk films were inconsistent and there have been complications with the character’s rights. It also seems Marvel Studios hasn’t been sure how to best use the Hulk in recent years. But ignoring such a popular character is a mistake, especially after the events of Endgame.
The Hulk is a rare original hero still appearing in Marvel movies since the very beginning. As one of the first Avengers, he should play a significant role in future films like Avengers: Doomsday, potentially serving as a key link between different storylines.
Fans noticed the Hulk was missing from Captain America: Brave New World despite hints about his future storyline. So, it’s a good move for Spider-Man: Brand New Day to bring the Hulk back as a major character, and get the momentum going again as we build towards the next Avengers films and beyond.
