Nick Offerman, known for his role in *Parks and Recreation*, is starring in a new crime drama that will soon be available to stream on Hulu. The show premiered earlier this summer and has quickly become a hit.
Hulu has announced that the film *Sovereign*, starring and Jacob Tremblay, will be available to stream starting November 7th. This release is expected to bring the film the attention it has earned.
Christian Swegal wrote and directed *Sovereign*, a film inspired by the 2010 shootings in West Memphis where two police officers were killed during a traffic stop. The film centers on Jerry and Joe Kane, played by Nick Offerman and Jay Duplass, a father and son who believe in the sovereign citizen movement. Dennis Quaid stars as Police Chief John Bouchart, and the cast also includes Ruby Wolf, Martha Plimpton, Nancy Travis, Thomas Mann, and Kezia DaCosta.
The film *Sovereign* was released in a limited number of theaters and made available for digital rental or purchase on July 11th. During its brief time in cinemas, it earned $63,777. Despite the low box office numbers, audiences have overwhelmingly praised the film. Currently, *Sovereign* has a 94% “Certified Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on over 70 reviews from verified critics.
Critics generally agreed the film is a tense and frightening thriller that shows the dangerous path of extremist thinking. Many highlighted Nick Offerman’s incredibly unsettling performance as a standout. Viewers also largely enjoyed the movie, giving it a 77% approval rating, and praised both Offerman and Jacob Tremblay’s acting. They described it as a powerfully emotional true-crime story that really makes you think about justice.
What’s Next for Sovereign Star Nick Offerman?
Nick Offerman has several films coming out soon, including the historical drama *Death by Lightning* and the animated comedy *The Pout-Pout Fish*. He’s also returning to television in the series *Margo’s Got Money Troubles*, which is based on Rufi Thorpe’s 2024 novel. The show will star Elle Fanning as Margo Millet, a young woman who starts an OnlyFans account after being left by her boyfriend when she discovers she’s pregnant.
The upcoming drama series, *Margo’s Got Money Troubles*, will feature Nick Offerman as Margo’s father, Jinx, a former wrestler, and Michelle Pfeiffer as Margo’s mother, Shyanne, who used to be a waitress. Nicole Kidman will play the mediator trying to help Margo and her ex work through a very difficult situation. The series is scheduled to debut on Apple TV+ in 2026. Kidman and Fanning are also collaborating on another project.
