Despite the success of *The Boys* and its growing number of spin-offs, one of those series has been canceled and won’t be returning. *The Boys* gained popularity by playfully poking fun at typical superhero shows, becoming a major hit on Amazon Prime Video. While the original series will continue with new episodes through 2025, one of its spin-offs will end after this year.
Eric Kripke, the creator of *The Boys*, has confirmed that *Diabolical*, the show’s first spin-off, won’t be returning for a second season. He told The Wrap that while he and Simon Racioppa (writer and showrunner) were eager to continue the series, viewership numbers weren’t high enough to justify a renewal, despite their efforts to make it happen.
It looks like ‘Diabolical’ won’t be getting a second season. We definitely tried to make it happen, but unfortunately, the show didn’t attract enough viewers to justify another season. We all really enjoyed making it – the showrunner, Simon, would be happy to do more – but we haven’t received the green light yet.
Titled *The Boys Presents: Diabolical*, this is the first spin-off series from *The Boys*, created by Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Simon Racioppa. Each episode features a different animation style, and the show is an anthology, meaning each episode tells a complete, self-contained story.
Antony Starr, who plays Homelander in *The Boys*, returns for this animated spin-off, along with other original cast members like Colby Minifie, Chace Crawford, and Giancarlo Esposito. *The Boys Presents: Diabolical* is now available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
Everything Coming in The Boys Universe on Amazon Prime Video
Even though *Diabolical* only lasted one season on Amazon Prime Video, *The Boys* and its related shows are expected to continue for quite some time.
As a huge fan of *The Boys*, I was excited to hear that Season 5 is planned for 2026, but also a little sad it’ll be the last one! From what I’ve gathered, it’s going to be a massive showdown – a full-scale war between the Supes and Butcher’s crew. Honestly, I’m bracing myself because it sounds like some major characters aren’t going to make it out alive.
I’m really excited about the upcoming prequel, *Vought Rising*! It’s going to focus on Soldier Boy, played by Jensen Ackles, and Stormfront, with Aya Cash reprising her role. They’re still filming, but the series will take us back to the 1950s to show how Soldier Boy became a big star – and all the trouble he caused along the way. It’s going to be fascinating to see his origins and understand how he became the legend we know (and dislike!) in the main series.
Season 2 of *Gen V* is currently airing, with the last episode coming to Prime Video on Wednesday, October 22nd. Amazon is also working on a new spin-off called *The Boys: Mexico*, with Diego Luna and Gael Garcia Bernal serving as executive producers. Details about the story and when it will be released are still under wraps, but it’s expected to have a very different feel from other shows in *The Boys* universe.
As anticipation builds to see how The Boys will end, the wider universe shows no signs of slowing.
