Pentagon Dubs Netflix’s New Military Drama Boots a “Woke Garbage”

The White House frequently commented on issues unrelated to governing, such as criticizing Jimmy Kimmel, offering support for certain endeavors, and engaging in other non-essential matters.

Netflix’s new military series is a hit with critics and viewers, but it’s facing opposition from the Pentagon. According to reports, a political appointee from the Trump administration labeled the show as unacceptable, and as a result, the Pentagon isn’t officially endorsing it.

Okay, so I heard from the Pentagon’s press secretary, Kingsley Wilson, about this new show, *Boots*. Apparently, she actually watched it – or at least, had some things to say about it! It’s based on the real-life story of Greg Cope White, a retired Marine, from his book *The Pink Marine*. What’s really cool is that it was produced by Norman Lear, a WWII vet and a total legend, before he passed away. She shared her thoughts in a press release that a bunch of news outlets picked up.

The U.S. military, under the leadership of President Trump and Secretary Hegseth, is refocusing on traditional warrior values. Standards are consistently high for everyone, and based solely on ability – things like carrying heavy loads or rescuing someone don’t care about a person’s gender or sexual orientation.

We will maintain our quality standards and won’t bow to any particular viewpoint. Unlike Netflix, we believe in providing content that isn’t driven by a narrow, and potentially inappropriate, agenda, especially for children.

I’m so excited about this new series! Andy Parker not only created it, but he’s also the lead actor, playing Cameron Cope. He’s a teen growing up in the 90s who’s keeping a big part of himself hidden, and on a whim, he joins the Marines with his best friend, Ray McAffey, played by Liam Oh. It’s a really compelling story!

Aside From the Pentagon, Boots Received Thrilling Reviews

Despite strong criticism from the Pentagon, which dismissed the new series as unacceptable, reviewers largely praise it. The show, which premiered on Netflix October 9th, currently holds a ‘Certified Fresh’ rating of 93% based on 29 reviews. Many critics have called it important, and are impressed with not only the performances, but also the story’s compelling narrative and emotional depth.

Kate Sanchez of But Why Tho’ highlighted that the film *BOOTS* feels essential. While dramatized for the screen, it’s a genuinely moving story based on one Marine’s journey that ultimately resonates with a wider audience.

Kelly Lawler of USA Today called the show a heartwarming and genuine military comedy-drama. She appreciated that it avoids clichés and features well-developed, relatable characters instead of predictable stereotypes.

The new series *Boots* quickly became popular, reaching the Top 10 TV charts worldwide with 4.7 million views and 27.5 million hours watched in its first week. It started at number six globally, appearing in the Top 10 in 58 countries, and ranked seventh in the U.S. As of October 17th, *Boots* is now the number one show globally and is third in the U.S.

Boots is streaming on Netflix.
