Sony Pictures has announced a new release date for a streaming title, and it’s arriving on a popular platform quicker than many anticipated.
According to the fan account Cosmic Marvel on Twitter, the movie *Madame Web* will be available to stream on Disney+ next month. Viewers can expect to see it on the platform starting November 14th, which is just under a month away.
Directed by S. J. Clarkson, *Madame Web* stars Dakota Johnson as a paramedic in Manhattan who suddenly develops psychic powers after a close brush with death. The film follows Cassie as she encounters others with spider-like abilities, including Julia Cornwall (Sydney Sweeney), Anya Corazón (Isabela Merced), and Mattie Franklin (Celeste O’Connor). She also faces off against the villain Ezekiel Sims, played by Tahar Rahim. The screenplay was co-written by Matt Sazama, Burk Sharpless, and Claire Parker.
The movie *Madame Web* premiered in theaters on February 14, 2024, but received largely negative reviews and didn’t perform well at the box office. Critics gave it a very low score of just 10% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 269 reviews. While audiences were slightly more positive, giving it a 53% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, this didn’t translate to strong ticket sales. The film only earned $100.5 million worldwide, barely covering its $100 million production cost.

Dakota Johnson recently shared her thoughts on the film *Madame Web*, stating she didn’t feel responsible for its outcome. She explained that many creative decisions these days are made by groups or people without artistic experience, which makes it difficult to create good art or entertainment. She felt *Madame Web* changed from its original vision during production, and she had little control over the final product, but acknowledged that big-budget films sometimes fail despite the investment.
Madame Web is currently slated to arrive on Disney+ on Nov. 14.
