The new Stephen King movie is now available to rent or buy digitally, following a good run in cinemas. Lionsgate has confirmed the release date.

Directed by Francis Lawrence and based on Stephen King’s early novel *The Long Walk*, this story takes place in a bleak 1970s America. It centers around fifty teenage boys, each chosen randomly from a different state, who compete in a televised annual event. The boys must walk at a steady pace of three miles per hour, or face deadly consequences after three warnings. They continue walking until only one remains, who then wins wealth and gets to have any wish granted.
Released in theaters on September 12th, *The Long Walk* performed well at the box office, earning $57.6 million globally on a $20 million budget. Critics also generally liked the film, giving it an 88% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The movie features a group of rising young actors portraying the 50 boys who take part in the Long Walk. Cooper Hoffman, known for his roles in *Saturday Night* and *Licorice Pizza*, leads the cast as Ray Garraty, also known as #47. David Jonsson, recently seen in *Alien: Romulus*, plays Pete McVries/#23, while Charlie Plummer (*Boardwalk Empire*), Ben Wang (*Karate Kid: Legends*), and Roman Griffin Davis (*Jojo Rabbit*) star as Gary Barkovitch/#5, Hank Olson/#46, and Thomas Curley/#7, respectively. Judy Greer and Hamill round out the main cast as Ginnie Garraty and the Major.
