Elizabeth Hurley recently shared her experience working with Brendan Fraser again, noting the interesting coincidence that their new roles are quite similar to the ones they played together in the 2000 comedy *Bedazzled*, which wasn’t well-received by critics.
Hurley remembered enjoying the early scripts for *Breaking Bear*. She was particularly excited to learn Brendan Fraser would be involved. As she read, she immediately thought it was a good fit, noting the role wasn’t too different from her character in *Bedazzled* – another villainous part. She admitted she often enjoys playing bad characters, and working with Brendan Fraser felt natural, saying, ‘It’s just him. Old habits.’
Elizabeth Hurley and Brendan Fraser previously worked together in the 2000 comedy *Bedazzled*, which was a remake of the 1967 film of the same name. The movie is a modern take on the Faust legend, starring Fraser as Elliot Richards, a man trying to win over his colleague, Alison (Frances O’Connor). He makes a deal with Hurley’s character, the Devil, and is granted seven wishes in exchange for his soul. However, the Devil cleverly twists each wish to comedic effect.
Despite receiving negative reviews, the movie *Bedazzled* was a commercial success, earning over $90 million at the box office on a budget of $48 million.
What Is Breaking Bear All About?
Premiering on Tubi in the 2025-2026 season, *Breaking Bear* is a funny new animated series about a bear family – Jer, Blair, and Alistair – who team up to protect their home from threats like oil drillers, criminals, and other wild animals.
The show features Kelsey Grammer as the voice of Jer Bear, Sarah Michelle Gellar (known from *Buffy the Vampire Slayer*) as Blair, Josh Gad (*Frozen*) as Alistair, and Jacob Anderson as the voice of the Wolf Queen, who guards the forest. Annie Murphy (*Schitt’s Creek*) plays Tawny, a local reporter.
Gellar hinted at the show’s freedom, saying they can now do things they never could with a live-action version. She explained that the animated format allows for storytelling and humor that wouldn’t be appropriate otherwise, and opportunities like this are rare.
Breaking Bear is currently slated to premiere on Tubi during the 2025/2026 broadcast season.
