Jacob seeks solitude and a chance to reconnect with an old friend by taking a job at a remote lighthouse. Beneath the Light follows Jacob, nicknamed Tinker, as he takes a job at a remote lighthouse hoping to reconnect with his childhood friend, Olivia Chavez. However, odd things start happening on the island – initially just strange sounds, but quickly escalating into increasingly disturbing experiences for Jacob.

Jacob’s investigation into the lighthouse is hampered by restless spirits that keep him awake at night. As he uncovers the lighthouse’s past, he begins to realize the terrifying danger lurking within its walls.

I just saw this really atmospheric movie about a guy who signs up to be a lighthouse keeper on this incredibly isolated island. It doesn’t take long for things to get seriously creepy, though – he starts experiencing all sorts of hauntings. It’s less about jump scares and more about this growing sense of dread as he tries to figure out the island’s dark history, because you quickly realize he’s in danger of becoming another ghost himself.

Best Parts

The story effectively creates a sense of dread and helplessness, trapping Jacob in terrifying situations with no clear way out. The mystery surrounding the lighthouse is also compelling. An interesting twist is that the character in need of rescue isn’t a woman, which brings a fresh perspective to the ghost story and investigation.

Worst Parts

Okay, so this movie *really* nails the feeling of being utterly alone and trapped – the atmosphere is fantastic. But honestly, I was waiting for it to truly scare me, and it just didn’t quite deliver. It builds tension well, and there’s this one scene in particular that had me hooked with its setup… but the payoff felt a little underwhelming. It kept promising a big shock, but it never quite landed with the impact I expected.
