James Gunn has shared that a surprise appearance by Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool almost made it into the finale of *Peacemaker* Season 2. Gunn had envisioned a quick cameo for Reynolds’ character and had even discussed the possibility with the actor himself.
Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool could have been in Peacemaker Season 2
James Gunn, who created and runs the show Peacemaker, recently said the series nearly had a cameo from a Marvel character. He mentioned in an interview that was later taken down that he had considered having Ryan Reynolds appear as Deadpool for a quick scene in the season two finale.
During a conversation, James Gunn was asked if he had any unused ideas for the show. He revealed that he’d once suggested the Peacemaker team discover Deadpool by opening a door to another room. He explained, “I really wanted a scene where they’d open the door and find Deadpool just standing there.”
I’m still buzzing about the possibility of Deadpool showing up! James Gunn actually told me they seriously considered it. He said he and Ryan Reynolds talked it over, but getting it done would have been a massive undertaking. Apparently, Ryan *really* wanted to be in it! Gunn joked that everyone’s just going to be obsessing over Deadpool now, and honestly, he’s probably right!
James Gunn clarified the plans for Peacemaker’s future, stating that a third season isn’t in development at the moment. However, he left the door open for a potential return, explaining that while there are no current plans, he wouldn’t rule it out completely. He emphasized Peacemaker’s importance to the new DC Universe.
The final episode of Peacemaker’s second season, “Full Nelson,” premiered on October 10, 2025. It concluded the season’s story about the multiverse and suggested what might happen next, but viewers had varying opinions about it.
