Jonathan Majors was originally set to be the big villain throughout Marvel’s Multiverse Saga as Kang the Conqueror. But after being convicted of assault and harassment, Marvel fired him. Robert Downey Jr. is now taking on the role of Doctor Doom instead. When asked if Kang might still appear in future Marvel movies or shows, Majors gave a surprisingly mysterious answer.
If Majors wasn’t going to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it would seem logical for him to simply state that. However, when asked about the rumors at the Daytime Beauty Awards, he just smiled and gave a vague answer, avoiding a direct response.
I cannot say anything about that.
This is a bit confusing. It’s not clear if Marvel Studios has decided against including Jonathan Majors in future Marvel movies and shows, or if he was simply teasing a reporter. Majors remained vague when asked directly about a specific Kang project he might be involved in, simply stating:
Well it’s a multiverse, so there’s always that. Always a lot of opportunity for that.
Jonathan Majors first appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as He Who Remains in the final episode of *Loki* Season 1. This character created the Time Variance Authority. He then played the primary Kang the Conqueror in *Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania*, but that version of the character seemingly died in a battle with Ant-Man. However, a scene after the credits showed many other versions of Kang, like Immortus, Rama-Tut, and Centurion, who are poised to cause trouble across the multiverse. Majors later returned in *Loki* Season 2, playing a different version of Kang called Victor Timely, and briefly reprised his role as He Who Remains.

Originally, Marvel planned for multiple versions of Kang the Conqueror to be the main villains in *Avengers: The Kang Dynasty* and *Avengers: Secret Wars*. After Jonathan Majors was fired, the first movie was renamed *Avengers: Doomsday* to focus on Doctor Doom instead. However, Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige revealed in July that the switch from Kang to Doom actually happened *before* the legal issues with Majors surfaced. He explained that Marvel executives decided Kang wasn’t a compelling enough overall threat for these films.
It’s unlikely Jonathan Majors will reprise his major role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but there’s a chance *Avengers: Doomsday* might address the absence of his Kang character. Interestingly, filming for *Doomsday* wrapped up last month, meaning Majors could have already filmed a cameo. However, we won’t know for sure if he appears in the movie until its release on December 18, 2026.
