As a huge fan of the series, I was thrilled to see that the sixth film, Final Destination: Bloodlines, released in 2025, became the most successful movie in the entire franchise! It really blew everyone away, earning $314.6 million around the world when it hit theaters earlier this year. And the best part? They’re already working on a seventh one! Bloodlines was a fantastic addition, and I can’t wait to see what they come up with next.
Bloodlines was directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, however, reports indicate they are looking for a new director for the seventh film. New Line Cinema is currently in discussions with Belgian director Michiel Blanchart to helm Final Destination 7. Blanchart is known for directing the short film, You’re Dead Helen, which won awards at both the Brussels International Film Festival and the Gérardmer Film Festival.
He also directed the feature film Night Call, which made history as the first Belgian film to receive 10 Magritte Awards – Belgium’s equivalent of the Oscars. Currently, Blanchart is developing You’re Dead Helene into a movie in English for Tri-Star Pictures. He will direct, and Sam Raimi will serve as a producer.
Craig Perry, Sheila Hanahan Taylor, Jon Watts, Dianne McGunigle, and Toby Emmerich – the team behind Bloodlines – are producing the seventh Final Destination film. Warren Zide will serve as executive producer. Lori Evans Taylor, who previously co-wrote Bloodlines with Guy Busick, is writing the screenplay.
Bloodlines Was Hugely Successful
The film debuted earlier this year as the first Final Destination movie in 14 years. The franchise as a whole has earned over $1 billion since it began. Final Destination is the third most successful horror series from New Line Cinema, following The Conjuring Universe with $2.73 billion and the It films, which made $1.2 billion.
Bloodlines tells the story of a college student returning home seeking help with disturbing, violent nightmares. The film is also notable as the final on-screen appearance of the late Tony Todd. According to Deadline, directors Lipovsky and Stein were considered to direct the seventh installment, but they chose not to. The seventh film was announced in August 2025 by Warner Bros.’ New Line division, though an official title remains unconfirmed.
During an earlier conversation, Stein mentioned the Final Destination series could go on, but he and Lipovsky were worried about coming up with original death scenes for a future movie. “Death will always find victims. There are always unfinished tasks. We’ve dedicated the last three years to crafting the best ideas for this film, so we’re currently short on new, creative concepts for the next installment,” Stein explained.
Bloodlines featured a cast including Kaitlyn Santa Juana, Teo Briones, Rya Kihlstedt, Richard Harmon, Owen Patrick Joyner, Anna Lore, Alex Zahara, April Telek, Brec Bassinger, Max Lloyd-Jones, Tinpo Lee, and Todd. You can currently watch the film on HBO Max.
