A new rumor is circulating about who might be the next James Bond, following Amazon MGM Studios’ acquisition of creative control over the famous 007 franchise. The studio officially gained this control in February 2025 through a new partnership with the long-time co-owners of the James Bond franchise, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.
Who is the potential next James Bond actor for Amazon MGM?
Sources at World of Reel are saying that Amazon MGM Studios is seriously considering Jacob Elordi, known for his roles in Euphoria and Saltburn, to be the next James Bond. While a final decision is still a ways off, the studio is reportedly “quietly pushing” for him, and he may even be asked to do a screen test sometime next year.
It’s not the first time actor Jacob Elordi has been discussed as a possible James Bond. Reports previously suggested he was a leading contender to replace Daniel Craig, alongside Tom Holland and Harris Dickinson, as the studio considered its options.
The upcoming James Bond film will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, known for his work on Dune. The screenplay is being written by Steven Knight, the creator of Peaky Blinders. Currently, there’s a lot of online discussion about who will be cast as the next 007. The studio plans to make a final decision around 2026, with filming expected to start in 2027. The movie is currently aiming for a release in theaters in November 2028. In an earlier conversation, Knight hinted at what fans can anticipate, describing the new film as “better, stronger, and bolder” and a departure from previous James Bond stories.
