During a recent conversation, Marvel actor Mark Ruffalo discussed potential battles between superheroes. He considered how strong Hulk would be against Superman, talked about when Red Hulk first appeared, and shared his ideas about where the ever-growing Marvel universe is headed.
Mark Ruffalo thinks Hulk would win against Superman and Red Hulk
During a recent interview on We’re Not Kidding with Mehdi Hasan, Mark Ruffalo weighed in on a popular fan question. When asked who would win in a battle between Superman and the Hulk, Ruffalo immediately stated, “Hulk.”
He was then questioned about the Red Hulk, portrayed by Harrison Ford in Captain America: Brave New World, and stated, “No one can defeat the Hulk. That includes the Red Hulk.” Ruffalo also expressed his respect for Ford.
Harrison Ford previously addressed a comparable question during an interview with Jake Hamilton regarding his role as Red Hulk. When asked if Red Hulk could win against Ruffalo’s Hulk, Ford brushed off the discussion, drawing a parallel to the famous Star Wars debate about “Who shot first?”. His casual response emphasized his disinterest in speculative battles, and he playfully stated, “The answer is Greedo.”
Mark Ruffalo has been playing the Hulk since he first appeared in The Avengers (2012). He’s since become the most well-known portrayal of Bruce Banner within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Harrison Ford’s version of the Red Hulk first appeared in Captain America: Brave New World, which came out on February 14, 2025.
He succeeded the late William Hurt, who originally played Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross. Ruffalo welcomed Ford joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but emphasized that his version of the Hulk would still win in a battle against any other character.
This conversation demonstrates increasing fan excitement about the Hulk’s story within the MCU. Audiences are now anticipating seeing different iterations of the character in future films and shows. Mark Ruffalo confidently asserted Hulk’s dominance, while Harrison Ford playfully downplayed the importance of the discussion. Ultimately, their remarks reveal the contrasting ways these two actors interact with Marvel fans and their ongoing conversations.
