A video is going around on X (previously known as Twitter) where a fan recounted bringing his daughter to meet Zendaya. He mistakenly called the actress Tom Holland’s “girlfriend.” Holland quickly and playfully corrected him, replying, “Fiancée.”
The video quickly became popular online, receiving more than 1.3 million views. Though some fans loved Holland’s sweet act, a lot of people were surprised to find out that the MCU couple were engaged.
At the Golden Globe Awards in January 2025, Zendaya was spotted with a diamond ring, which led people to wonder if Holland had proposed to the Euphoria actress. Shortly after the event, TMZ reported that the couple was indeed engaged. According to sources, the Spider-Man actor had proposed during the holiday season.
Shortly after, someone with knowledge of the situation shared details about the proposal with People magazine. This person said that both families were aware a proposal was coming, though they didn’t know the exact timing. “He’s always been head over heels for her. He’s always felt she was the right person for him. They share a truly unique connection,” the source explained.
Additionally, on January 10th, Dominic Holland, Tom’s father, mentioned the proposal in a post on his Patreon page. “He had bought a ring,” Dominic wrote. “He’d also spoken with her father and received his blessing to ask for her hand in marriage. Tom had thought of everything… the timing, location, exactly what he would say, and even what to wear.” (via E! News)
Although rumors of an engagement between Tom Holland and Zendaya have been circulating for months, the couple hasn’t confirmed or denied anything. This is typical for them, as they’ve generally kept their relationship private, even back when they first started dating on the set of the Spider-Man movies.
